Author Topic: when ur friends think everything on the internet is a virus  (Read 6854 times)

Oh boy.

My step-sister, I haven't seen her in a year, had this old Windows 98 machine. Her dad installed Windows XP, and the old slug could hardly handle it. She was the kind of girl who would play with "Dress up barbie dolls", "Rockstar Fashion Show", "fre le online funne gaem". Yep. She'd download from pretty much any site she could find, and her system was flooded with hijackers, trojans and even win32.infostealer is what I think it's called.

When she was away with her mom, I installed Ubuntu 6.0 (because it was the only thing her machine could handle).

Later, when she came back, she saw her new computer in all of it's polished glory, and screamed at me for removing all of her "favorite games". I tried to explain to her that the machine could hardly handle all the software she put on it, and the fact that a majority of it was malicious. She started blaming her life's problems on me and called her dad while he was at work. As soon as he came back, he started yelling and told me I was grounded for a week. Too bad I had my computer in my room, step-dad. Later on that day, I was un-grounded and I smiled at my sister, an evil, sort of wicked smile. She really hated me then.

On related news, my mom and grandparents always blame me for the issues with their smartphones and tablets/computers. My grandmother blames me for her tablet being slow and shutting down, this really pisses me off. My grandfather gets extremely mad when his smartphone has issues, so I tend to avoid him then.

my mom said her computer was slow

because my dad made a user for himself on her laptop

mind you, she has a job at a computer

that's dumb but at least they're right about one thing: hamachi is loving garbage. every time i had it installed, it made my internet hella slow whenever it was active.
what kind of Hamachi did you download man
My computer and internet runs perfectly fine with it

well i guess it could have to do with my third-rate internet but my experiences with it have been almost entirely negative

i cannot express how stupid some of my rl friends are, thinking everything on the internet is a virus

recently, me and my friend who livez 5 streets away from me suggested we could host a minecraft server together. my wifi stinks atm so i suggested he could host it. obviously he didn't know how to port forwardz it so i suggested using hamachi. "noo, the last time i installed hamachi on my laptop everything stopped working, and i got a bunch of viruses!!"

i wanted my other friend to play a game i made in rpg maker, but it exports to .exe so that was a problem right there. gave it to him, said "no, what if it could be a virus??!?". why would one of your friends just give you a virus omfg. i gave him a virustotal scan and he still would not believe me aaa

discuss handicapped people who think everything in the world is a virus

if it bothers you that much the problem is you.

im crying every time... :((((

i cant take it off either, my mom says "IF U TAKE IT OFF U WILL GET VIRUSSES!!!!"

Now I'm kinda glad nobody in my family is computerstupid

..how many grams?

I don't have any of these problems. My family relies on me and my dad to protect the computers, and my dad knows his stuff.

And they don't care what I do to my own computer.

Usually how it goes, is there are several computers in the house. One is mine, one is my dad's and the rest are usable by anyone. If one computer gets too old to use Windows without being slow, my dad will try to clean it up and make it faster. If he fails, I get to do whatever I want to it. I usually just install Linux on it.

hai
i came back from my friendz house again, i have a sortof migraine right now

i showed him robocraft on steam and he said it looks cool. i showed him where to sign up, and he opened internet explorer to do it. he started complaining about adz and all that, so i went and opened chrome since he had that pinned to his taskbar also (why do peoples do that? :o), and i said i'll go ahead and install adblock for ur convenience. and this is where he started complaining about "nooo, don't! it's fake dude, don't do it! it's a virus trust me". he still believes adblock is a seemingly fake service that is actually a virus, even though i showed him how legit it is.

i just went ahead and took him to the robocraft registration page

ya this will probably be the last time i go over to his house :)
