Author Topic: Star trek online  (Read 3449 times)

the old topic is too old, and figured it'd bring it back up cause the new expansion coming out soon.

PS. if someone would like to make an actual megathread for this that'd be great cause i don't really want to, i just wanted to bring it up.

Anyway, I'm a admiral lower half, rank 41. I use escort ships cause i prefer heavy cannons over lasers. Anyone else play this game? if so, what's your rank/ship?

I saw some videos and It looks pretty cool, is it F2P?

yea, it's totally free to play. and while you can spend money to get better stuff, it doesn't feel forced. I haven't spent a dime and i'm approaching max level, and it didn't really feel like all that much of a grind

this game has the fastest level cap I've experienced in an MMO and I played the vast majority of it on my own. some might say a single-player MMO is a mark of bad game design but I had enough fun playing it that way.

Yea it doesn't feel like it takes forever to get to the next rank, which i really love about this game.

Tomorrow they're releasing a massive update to the game. Qwepir and I already play and we have a lot of fun

I played a small bit of this game quite awhile ago. Been thinking about re-downloading it when I have more time on my hands.

played this game back in 2011 and again recently in the last month. now that i'm a vice admiral i've realized there is absolutely nothing interesting to do once you get to the top rank. the combat sucks, both in space and on the ground, the UI is a terrible cluttered mess with a thousand buttons and tabs, 90% of which i still am barely able to work with, and the gameplay in general is just crap.

the uss FRIENDLY FRIENDS and NICE PEOPLE

I was going to make this thread again but I simply don't know how to make informative threads. If you want help with missions and STFs and stuff, add me as a friend. Doomcop@qwepir or something.

Give it another go, tomorrow they throw the gates open to the Delta Quadrant and up the level cap to 60.

ignore this post he actually liked enterprise

once you get to the top rank you start doing endgame stuff, just like in any other MMO
pve instances, fill out your reputation paths, help your fleet with holding projects (you DID join a fleet, right?), pvp if you're a masochist (don't actually do pvp)
If you drop the game once you get to 50 you are really missing out because I kept on going and now I can do this

I joined a fleet from a random invite and they kicked me out two years later for inactivity.

My gear is probably all junk.

yeah, ok sure, so you get to do some special missions and obtain some obscure op alien weapons, but that doesn't change the fact that the combat, UI, ship/station interiors and storylines are all complete crap.

Now's as good a time as any to get back into it.

Only it's relevant. If you honestly liked Enterprise and its' horrendous intro then there is no way anyone should take your opinion on Trek anything seriously.

but that doesn't change the fact that the combat, UI, ship/station interiors and storylines are all complete crap.

Besides:
played this game back in 2011
Whoa, it's almost like things can change over the course of 3 years. (Rumor has it that after the devs are done with DR they're going to be revamping the Romulan Mystery arc)
You know, I played Team Fortress 2 back in 2008 and it was just so boring! There was no weapon variety and all the maps were the same. 0/10.

That's changed?

I couldn't tell ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

also you're totally ad-homming right now

Yep. Pointing out that saying "I played this game in 2011" is irrelevant considering 60% of the story missions and even more non-story content has been updated since 2011 is totally ad hominem.

no i was referring to you mentioning his relationship with Enterprise

of course things are going to change over a three year gap.
