Author Topic: My sister is illegally holding alcohol  (Read 35864 times)

wait why are people on both sides of this use slippery slope as their argument
one side is that she'll end up as a addicted drunk and ruin her whole life
the other says that damp will end up completely end up ruining their relationship by calling her out
aren't both sides going a little too far on this petty stuff?

WHY?!? Because if she doesn't face any consequence, she'll steal more valuable things than wine and will learn thinking it's lying is just a puny little thing, and be addicted to things stronger than wine.
Your mentality is disease to our society. You can't assume things like this just because this is what they taught you in school.

Calling the cops or telling on her parents isn't going to work. It'll cause trouble and yelling in the family and Damp will be in the middle of it.

OP wants to have his cake and eat it too.

He wants to report his sister so that she will stop drinking
He also wants to do this anonymously so that she will still like him

You guys realize that in the US where the drinking age is 21, most people's first three years of college are filled with underaged drinking? It's like normal. Everyone knows you drink in college. Everyone knows you experiment with drugs in college.
I have little problem with drinking above 18 considering that it's legal 18 and above in many developed countries
No, I'm an underage drinker (what a goofy sounding term), and I like to think I'm not too stupid. It's people who allow themselves to get addicted to alcohol that are stupid. And yes, if someone is at that level of stupidity, there's no helping them.
They can, at the very least, postpone her drinking to some time where it will do less damage

I don't think she's going to become an addicted drunk necessarily. But I'm pretty sure drinking regularly at such a young age is bad for you, is all.
Just realized his sister is younger than me and drinking. .-.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to have your cake and eat it too. It's just that you can't always have it that way.

There is if you're going to stuff on someone elses cake just to make yours more special.

well i wasn't really directing at you

I don't think you understand how people work.
It's not like you're instantly a criminal who will repeat his ''crimes'' when you do a simple minor loving thing.

Stop being so stupid.

It isn't so minor. She's at the stage where she is still learning right from wrong, she's still forming her brain. She is going end up growing up thinking that it's a little thing to steal wine, then it's a little thing to steal money.... Get the dilemma? While her addiction is low, she can stop it now. If not, it'll probably end up worse.

Other than it being entirely shady and selfish, I guess not.

This won't work out perfectly no matter how you do it. May as well stop trying to sneak around and own up to your decision to tell.

its even lower in some european countries

Are you serious? Is this really your way of thinking?

Holy stuff get out of this thread already lol

It was 16 over here in the Netherlands up til Jan this year.

Well, if you have a pretty abusive father or mother, then she's screwed if she doesn't throw the bottle away or something.

What?

It's not really shady or selfish. From his perspective, he is protecting his sister while preventing her from resenting him for a stupid reason

Stop with your assumptions.

1) Reporting her "anonymously" is stupid. She will know it was him in various different ways.
2) Reporting his sister to the police will put her on record and "on the list", possibly put her in rehab stuff, ruin her social life, possible give her depression, ect.

That's not how it works? She knows its wrong to steal wine and to drink alcohol, but that is part of the reason why she is doing it lol.
