Author Topic: Would aluminum/lead weapons be any good?  (Read 2638 times)

if he wanted to have a melee weapon to kill someone with im pretty sure he'd get some of those 10 dollar ebay machetes other than forging his own aluminium one in his backyard

like

how would he get away with that anyway? wouldnt he just use a kitchen knafe?
well first of all aluminum isnt suitable for a blade so ja probs a regular stainless kitchen knife

You could probably make like arrowheads or darts out of aluminum (probably not heavy enough) and lead slugs for slings.

At least you aren't melting down good steel.

how do you think they make anything out of steel?

Guys, what would be the easiest medieval weapon to make? I'm thinking a standard straight sword would be it.

start with some knives lol

dont waste a lot of time self teaching on the biggest project possible XD
the first ones will suck horribly anyway.

Melting down certain steels ruins some properties of them. Not all steel is the the same. Good quality blades use a different steel than flashy, stainless steel blades.

If you're interested, look it up. Its not such a simple process as people think.

Steel production and use is so confusing, which is yet another reason I want to stay away from it for now.

Honestly, just learn how to use a forge. Reshaping good, flat pieces of steel is not only easier, but it also keeps most of the structural properties in the blade. Plus it makes you seem like a badass.
