Author Topic: Does anyone else really dislike school?  (Read 4450 times)

After High school, you have so much free time in college its not even funny. Im sitting here on break and im still trying to figure out what to do. Your two year basic classes are jokes, the professors mainly just goof off with the classmates and, get this, some tests are open note as long as you take notes.
what college you attending? major?

Surely you know you cannot extend your situation to public school, right?
Public schools are a bit more like university lectures; they fit a lot of people into their class, the teacher lectures for a bit and then they leave, students have to hand in assessments every week (IIRC) and all that jazz. I can't really speak about that environment.

move to america. we have a 100% functional educational system here.
I'd only go to America again in order to have a decent range of LEGO and video game products that don't cost 150% more than the normal price.

what if you were developing programs for certain nations/regions, or who to appeal to
Why on Earth would I develop a program for a specific city?

We didn't learn NORMAL Geography. We learned AUSTRALIAN Geography. It was mostly so the Government can pretend it cares about National Pride. Furthermore, history classes are all specifically AUSTRALIAN History, unless you choose Modern/Ancient History during the last two years of High School.

lol if you really wanna learn something chances are you'll have a solid passion for it and the comprehension comes easily because you want to learn it (and not be forced to learn it)

of course you wont be as well rounded but you'll be a badass in the field you love (computer science for example)

the only thing i don't really like is the tests too.
all the teachers complain about them, the new PARCC tests really got into the way with classes.
ay what state are you in because we've got that bullstuff too now

English, forget that stuff. Boring as hell.

"Class, Please find the grammatical errors!"

Which is the problem. I actually really enjoy using English to write stories and articles and have proper discussions with people. If it was just taught a little bit better...

Same.

I hate being told to read. I read as a past time not a chore. Same thing with writing.

That too ,I hate when teachers are like "Read!" I'm like "Seriously? I've read the entire harry potter, Eragon, LOTR, Percy Jackson, ETC and you want me to read?"

Find something you like to read. Believe me, if you find an author you enjoy reading, you'll do it more often, and you'll start to gain a sort of writing style after reading. It's worth it.

And by something I don't exactly mean something like Eragon or Harry Potter. I'm not saying they're bad books and that just because they're popular means that they don't have any significant meaning, but those books (the sequels, at least) don't exactly aspire to anything other than commercial gain, and perhaps something a little more complex would do you good.

I'll be honest; there's a few books I'm glad my school introduced me to. Specifically, Animal Farm and another novel that I've forgotten, but which I found extremely entertaining.

School introduced me to Gary Paulsen, but that's pretty much the only good its done for me.

i like school, just hate waking up for it
but tbh i would totally make school start at like 3am if i could 'cause that'd be sick and i love getting out of school early
