Surely you know you cannot extend your situation to public school, right?
Public schools are a bit more like university lectures; they fit a lot of people into their class, the teacher lectures for a bit and then they leave, students have to hand in assessments every week (IIRC) and all that jazz. I can't really speak about that environment.
move to america. we have a 100% functional educational system here.

what if you were developing programs for certain nations/regions, or who to appeal to
Why on Earth would I develop a program for a specific city?
We didn't learn NORMAL Geography. We learned AUSTRALIAN Geography. It was mostly so the Government can pretend it cares about National Pride. Furthermore, history classes are all specifically AUSTRALIAN History, unless you choose Modern/Ancient History during the last two years of High School.
