OT: looks hot someone should buy me it

Once Windows 10 comes out, I'm going to laugh at all you Win7 users who are clinging to a dead operating system. It's pretty much already become the joke about preferring XP to anything newer, stop sulking in your comfort of the familiar and try something new.
Vista, and XP hipsters stand by us.

Yup, I knew it. negative comments.
If it weren't for comodo, I wouldn't get so much hate now would I?
nah bud it's really not the OS's fault

they're not negative comments, they're just saying that it's moreso the computer rather than the actual operating system. only way an OS will impact performance is it's digital memory footprint, which windows 8 has a smaller one than windows 7. windows 10 should be even smaller

of course, that doesn't mean anything to anyone who isn't maxing out their ram whenever they play games. if you're on a 64-bit computer with a 64-bit version of windows it should run a bit smoother but other than memory, windows doesn't really affect third party software

rip windows 7 will not be missed by future windows 10 users

wtf are you talkin about?
I dont even know you, im just telling you its your computer and not the OS.

i'm in love

i heard the consumer preview is going to be awesome, new web browser, cortana's gonna be there acting like siri, etc

i'm so hyped. imagine that operating system with rainmeter. you can make some beautiful desktops

It's pretty nice. The metro interface has been packed into the start menu and metro apps now run in windows that you can resize and everything. I really only used it for 20 minutes, but I'll boot my computer back into it to check more stuff out. But that being said, it was very smooth and responsive. Ofc they're still trying to force internet explorer onto us though.
I'll also check out the memory usage and stuff.

what? i thought they killed IE

or, wait, they're doing that in the consumer preview i think

I wonder if MS ever thought that they could make their browser better

They have thought about it, and they have done it. IE isn't the terrible browser it once was.

Still pretty bad though. Even the new one takes forever to load and crashes often, in my experience.

anyway, atm windows 10 takes quite a while to boot, nearly a minute and a half. Explorer is really sluggish and keeps freezing for a few moments. All my software installed just fine though. Memory usage is about the same as Windows 7 I think.

hm. i wonder if the consumer preview will be faster

i would switch to windows 8 but i dont want my computer to become a smartphone without a touchscreen

Then get a touchscreen, or use one of the several pieces of free software people have mentioned in this thread. In addition to the ones people have talked about, I don't think I saw anyone mention Classic Shell, so that's one more option.

But it does have terrible support of HTML5 and CSS3 standards.

It's not secure is my main gripe with it, every few months or week there's a new exploit that allows someone to totally take control of your computer.

You think I'm kidding? 220 such exploits were found in various internet explorer versions throughout 2014:
http://www.cvedetails.com/product/9900/Microsoft-Internet-Explorer.html?vendor_id=26

i would switch to windows 8 but i dont want my computer to become a smartphone without a touchscreen
and that's why i find the Start menu for 8 to be a failed excuse for using only your fingers to do everything you can oooOOOOooo. even though my laptop actually does have a touchscreen, i highly prefer a mouse instead for accuracy.
