Author Topic: Bye Bye, Windows 7  (Read 18645 times)

even though my laptop actually does have a touchscreen, i highly prefer a mouse instead for accuracy.
Then why did you get a touchscreen laptop?

Because you touch yourself at night It's better for drawing

Then why did you get a touchscreen laptop?
because my dad always puts convenience over quality. i wasn't even aiming to get a laptop, but he forced me to get it because "i get to carry it around everywhere and act like it's a smartphone!!"

unfortunately the pitifully short battery life makes it not-so-convenient when the charger for it is back at my house :I

and besides navigating the Start menu with a mouse is kind of irritating honestly.

I actually dunno why I haven't upgraded to Windows 8.1 on my desktop and laptop yet.  I'm hoping Windows 10 comes sooner because I'd get it in a heartbeat if I don't put 8.1 on my computers soon.  I already use 8.1 on my Surface Pro 2.

If you think using Windows 8 or 10 is awful you clearly haven't used it enough and are a textbook example of a luddite.

I do not simply want to "cling" to Windows 7, I just cbf going through a whole upgrade process, which will most probably mess up some of my programs or files like it did last time, and also its loving expensive and the change will definitely not be worth the price as per usual.

Oh please, the only reason people hate it is because the new UI. From experience I have had much better performance on Win8.1 then I did on Win7.
Literally NOBODY has the initiative to get used to a new UI. That's where Microsoft went wrong.

lol what the forget? windows 7 is superior compared to windows 8 and windows 10 didnt even come out yet
come on microsoft

I haven't tried windows 8 and have only used windows 7, so my opinion would be biased in that regard.

But to be honest I really don't care. As long as I can efficiently use programs as normal, I couldn't care less what version it is/was.

The main reason I got it was because I like to have the most updated software, better performance, and I personally liked the UI. And of course if people don't like the UI they can take the extra step to download Start8 and a skin for windows.

Oh why is that? Because it might look nicer to you? no. Windows 8.1 is superior because of its performance. So good job on looking like a rere.

Because Windows 7 got all the nicest parts (according to windows users) of older Windows versions and slapped them all together with a nice design and better functionality.

Windows 8 might be easier on performance (if you have a stuffe pc), but other than that its main selling point is the UI change which nobody likes.

Did you just call my computer stuff? I run an i7 4770K and a GTX 670 4GB with 16GB of RAM, I have noticed a performance increase in games, OS functions, and boot time reduced to 4 seconds.

So no, it's not only "stuffe pc"'s which see a increase.

I would want to get W10, but it's coming on the second half :B.

I do indeed not like the UI though. I might disable the Metro completely once I get it anyway.

I don't like the W7 UI either, so I patched it to Shine 2.0. I suppose there might be something similar for 10 when it comes up anyway - 8 already has UI changers.

I personally like the Metro UI, it's sleek and modern.

The tiles/"start" screen is my favorite part of Windows 8(.1), and I don't even have windows 8. I like having all my stuff in such an organized fashion.

For me "Organized fashion" is using Launchy.
