Someone once told me they don't like the start screen because the shortcuts are all over the screen.

That same person keeps their shortcuts all over their desktop.

For me "Organized fashion" is using Launchy.
The new start screen works kinda like that. Press the windows key and start typing for what you want.

The old one is as well. But I would still like launchy  better because I don't need to either open up the taskbar or open up a fullscreen windowed UI to launch my stuff. Launchy just hovers over whatever the heck you want. Except actual fullscreen.

... new? The same applies to Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.

Fairly sure the start screen was in Windows 8 first.

I wasn't referring to the search function as new.

When I was like, 15, that's what my desktop used to look like (minus that right side bullstuff). When I built my current computer (2 years ago), I vowed to make my desktop pristine. And it still is. :>

Well to be fair, I have a few shortcuts. As well as a RocketDock at the top, but only the things I use very very frequently.

I used to have all of those in my taskbar, but win8 forgeted up and now I'm too lazy until I'm doing a fresh clean Saturday.

I keep all of my shortcuts on the start screen. None on the taskbar or desktop.
