why should an educational facility have internet when they're blocking the entire thing

seriously i dont understand this, it is a waste of money.
re schools hiding the real truth from you?

my LAN crusade begins here

Be happy you even have free WiFi lol
Besides, I'm not an expert but couldn't something like TOR bypass this at least on browsers or something? Put it on a pen drive to install it I guess

our IT teacher just has the wifi passworded. why don't american schools do this

My school has two main WiFi systems: a guest system (requires signing in every time it gets used, but no password) and a faster system with a password. The teachers won't willingly give out the password for the protected system, but there are those kids who get a hold of it and spread it around, which is how I got it. The administration doesn't care apparently, since they haven't changed the password in years (if at all), but they put blockers all over both systems.

Blocking websites in school is some of the most inefficient handicapped stuff ever. I don't understand why the teacher can't just do their loving job and watch the kids and make sure they're on task.

yeah I use mobile data in school
like right now

I was on the forums once at school, and it send a message to the internet provider alerting them of proxy and ToR content, and then unlocked the page a few minutes later
It never happened again

yeah I use mobile data in school
like right now

I won't have that until I can pay for it.

they dont block any sites here
they also dont have any it so whenever theres a problem they call a student to help them
if its serious they just hire someone to fix it

My college advises not going to any raunchy sites.

Download tor onto a flash drive at home and use it.

My old school made it a rule not to get on their wifi, meaning no students are allowed to have the password but then some of my friends guessed it and they had to take it down temporarily, not only at that school, but the tech school as well, because of "hackers"

They changed the password to something like "12rebelz40" while the tech school's wifi pass stayed the same, which was the same exact pass that every school in my town has.

Not to mention, rebels is that school's mascot.

I'm blocked from my school wi-fi on my phone.
Reason?
Quite a while back, there were two different school wi-fis. One of them, you could log into with a username and a password. Each student had one. The other one was called "School Owned" and nobody ever said anything about it. ever.
So, our school's resident genius (who I don't know too well, but is a really cool guy) decided he'd figure out what the password was to the school-owned wi-fi.
So he did, and he distributed it.
The school eventually caught on and changed the password, but still didn't say anything. Not just to students; none of the teachers knew anything about it. They were never informed of its existence: it was just there.
Our school hero figured it out again, and they switched it again. This time, not just students used it; some teachers did too.
A long while passed, and then they got pissed, and then one day, without saying anything at all about it, they spiked everyone off of it. Anyone who had been connected to it at that time was banned from it.
After maybe a week, there was some kinda assembly or something where they said that it was morally wrong to use wi-fi when you didn't know whose it was or if they wanted you on it. They said that in order to get back on the wi-fi with your phone you could write them an essay or something about how it was wrong to do that.
I said forget it and I haven't used the school wi-fi since.
Most people haven't either.

What I don't get is why they didn't just change the password to something that wasn't a four digit arithmetic loving sequence

my school has a "schools-guest" wi-fi, unpassworded, about 99% unblocked stuff.
just bring in something which can connect to the internet and bingo bongo.
the it technician might of got lazy with a select few of the laptops which we have to use, because some of them aren't connected to the school network, allowing us to change to the 'schools-guest' network. bad side is that you cannot save your work on those ones.

how long are your break times
35 minutes, and because one of my teachers got sick and has been gone for like 2 weeks, I get to do nothing but relax for the entire period
my school is weird, cus everywhere in the school there's a strict blocker except in the comp. sci room. i go on bl and listen to rap all day long, lol
My teacher has his own wifi network which he lets us use, your class might have something similar
