I am sick to forget of games that use the excuse of it being a retro 8-bit game without it actually being 8-bit because the guy can't draw for stuff, and relies on the retarted gimmick of it having large colored squares to appeal to the hipster nostalgic kid trend.
Early Access is good in some ways (Space Engineers is a prime example), but in some other cases *cough* DayZ, *cough* Starbound, they never finish the damn thing. Not that they are neccisarily BAD games, but they are in a loophole of feeding angry kids who want their money's worth, while trying to 'finish' their game. Some people, however, use it as a loving bait to gamers who want their games fast and snappy, and it still works sadly.
Pre-Ordering. Unless the developers have been kind and gave out review copies (in hopes to get you to buy it), I strongly advise to not do this, and what for? To get some super special hat no one else gets? Until you can validate your purchase by other people, you should not do it.
Joke games. They are ok for the first few times, then no one looks at the game ever again or the creators. Come up with an intuitive game, one people will REMEMBER, just think of this as a movie that super scopes on a single joke for about an hour or 2. Could you stand that?
That's all.
