no

start putting that kind of power and legislation into peoples hands, we'll be doomed to abuse it

Assuming we're throwing out the slippery slope to 'no freedom', agree. :•] Hell, it's not like not being allowed to have biological kids is a terrible thing anyway but that could entirely be due to my disposition against small children. If you want them so bad you could adopt them anyway.
It might be a slippery slope but it's consistent in history.

what are some examples other than when someone was intentionally attempting to seize more significant power

not asking to try and challenge this, i'm genuinely curious cus it would be interesting information

We should just work on fixing genetic disorders and not worry about removing people's rights in the process.

i think if people with disabilities whom cant grasp the basic concept of social norms/or just society and have the mind of a 1st grader shouldn't re-produce

You're talking about 90% of the public schooling yields

Holy stuff. I'm not arguing that public schooling is pretty stuff and that the average intelligence isn't on the low end of the spectrum, but you really think 90% is any where close to a good estimate?

public schooling is actually a pretty important means by which children can learn the norms of society, esp. in social interaction

of course it's an unintended function, but it's a pretty big unintended function

They shouldn't do it, but no one should stop them.

People who knowingly have heritable genetic illnesses do not reproduce with people who also have those traits. This isn't even an issue as far as I can tell:

It's a theoretical question. It challenges people's morals and ethics, not their scientific knowledge of genetics.

i truly don't see the OP as asking a purely theoretical question that abstracts how genetics actually works but hey

If every ethical/moral dilemma had to be rooted entirely in reality they'd all be very boring.

But hey if I need any help with 9th grade genetics I'll give you a buzz buddy :]

don't bother i kinda suck at it too
its not easy especially with the blood groups
