i want to see bethesda transition back to their early root releases of arena and daggerfall styled gameplay

essentially a spiritual sucessor to daggerfall, but as a secondary project

check out the original statistics on daggerfall
700k npcs
15k towns, villages, cities, and dungeons
landmass the size of great britain

yeah its entirely randomly generated for the most part, but it just lends roguelike glory

The reason for having so few characters is probably just because they don't want it to look repetitive. They can't really write and record unique dialog for tons of named characters, I mean, there's already a lot. So their only option, then, would be a bunch of generic NPCs, like "villager" or "farmer," which gets boring.
On this point, I seriously hope that in whatever next game they produce, they just invest a lot of time/money into lots and lots and lots of voice acting, by lots of different voice actors.

I know it's more of a cosmetic thing, and therefore less important than them to spend the time on working on a new engine, or gameplay mechanics, but I'm just so so bored of hearing the same 10 voices again and again and again.

Skyrim worked pretty well, because they had quite a few more voice actors.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas seemed to just have the same few voice actors. It got to the point where any time you saw an old man or a child you already knew what he was going to sound like.
And it wasn't even so much multiple npcs repeating the same lines, just having identical voice actors.

The Elder Scrolls Online however is, generally speaking, much better for Voice actors in my opinion.
At least as far as human based races go. (The Khajiit and Argonians in particular seem to have fewer voice actors, or if there are multiple ones, they're pulling very similar voices).
It really improves the immersion a lot when you don't notice that everyone sounds the same.

Also who wants to bet Fallout 4 will be titled F4LLOUT?
If its not, I will buy someone the game when it comes out. I swear on me mum.
I hope not. I'd keep reading it as Fourllout

Super stoked for Fallout 4, they better announce it

I just need to remember not to level up speech too high when I play, I always stock up on awesome guns for shoot outs and then end up talking myself out of said fights

If this isn't Fallout 4 I will douse a sock in olive oil and eat it.

op better deliver

Large battles being a mess is pretty null, look at mount and blade. Massive battles, AI works just fine, sure they may be dumb and clustered here and there, but it works out well most of the time.

Pageloss

forgetin if it isnt fo4 im going to make the world a nuclear loving apocalypse and then fo4 will be real life the loving game

actually that's a great idea
mmorpg fallout with perfect graphics and realistic physics
i propose we set the world on fire

Skyrim worked pretty well, because they had quite a few more voice actors.

They could do with quite a few more though, or at least get some of the VAs to do different-sounding voices

Can't tell you how many times I've heard "gravelly middle-aged man" and "slightly english guy", it feels like all the guilds are comprised of the same 6 people

I want morrowind 2

There have been a lot of mentions of Morrowind being recreated in Oblivion/Skyrim floating around, not sure if any of them were ever finished

I know it's not the same as an official game but still

They're still working on the skyrim-morrowind recreation, but I doubt it's gonna be done anytime soon

Oh yeah, Skyrim was still awful for it.
I do think it was better than Fallout 3/NV, which I swear you could count the number of voice actors there were on your fingers.

But yeah, they just needed more. And if they reuse voice actors, they should at least be able to try and make a different voice!
I'd have thought that was a required skill for a voice actor.

I think Bethesda seems to get more celebrity voice actors than regular ones. It's all well and good getting Liam Neeson or Sean Bean or Bill Nighy to voice one character, but when you get one guy voicing 40 characters, it's just stupid.

Have a look at the list of voice actors for Skyrim, and how many characters their voice actors played!
Michael Gough voices 110 characters, for goodness sake. That's pretty much all the characters that sound like Jarl Balgruuf, btw.

And lets be honest, Bethesda has absolutely no excuse to not hire more voice actors, especially after Skyrim. They have more than enough money.

That's not how this works, but alright.

i want randomly generated towns and stuff
