are we gonna be stationed on the defensive for the rest of the RP? where there is enemy infantry, there is use for incendiaries

"Copy."
I turn towards the fighters and fiddle with Artemis for a bit, before locking on to four of them and firing an RGM at each.
The missiles head for their targets. Unfortunately, two of them split off in opposite directions, leaving the radar cone and dropping the lock. The third one drops chaff, but doesn't quite clear the explosion and takes some damage. The last one is unable to evade nor drop countermeasures, and is destroyed.

I lock up a fighter and fire an RGM.
The plane attempts to break off and evade, but you keep it in your sights and it goes down in flames.

The remaining four craft fire off their own RGMs. One at Steele, one at one of the Mercanan jets, and two at the cargo planes.

Remaining enemy craft:
4x Saab Gripen

where there is enemy infantry, there is use for incendiaries
Use of incendiary munitions against non-materiel targets has been a war crime on Requilary ever since the Kintardians got literally and figuratively roasted during the Kino-Mercanan war. Nobody wants to repeat that ugliness. Not that NAUC cares about the rules and regs of war, but you are currently stationed on a base full of people who do, so munitions like that are not going to be easy to come across.
For now.

I drop chaff and break off, hoping to get out of the radar circle.

I lock up another Saab and cut my speed, perhaps I'll get a whole extra second between closing times.

I fire a second RGM. I see two incoming little specs, but I have no lock warning, only a tracking warning.

"There's a salvo incoming! I see them! The missiles!" I radio.

The missile doesn't seem fooled by the chaff, and the plane tracks your movement further. The missile is now much closer, but still hasn't reached you yet.

Your RGM streaks towards the target. They attempt to evade but you're able to keep them locked down so far.

"There's a salvo incoming! I see them! The missiles!" I radio.
: I'm on it!

The badly-damaged F-23 cuts between the missile and one of the cargo planes and dumps a considerably large cloud of chaff to spoof the missile before changing direction and charging at the Gripens. The other cargo plane is able to provide its' own countermeasures, but radios that that was the last of it.
: The rest of my flight will stay with the planes as a last resort, let's go knock these thugs out of the sky before they get too close!

Rockets with airburst option that can put up a smokescreen that can jam radar and comms

Edit: i'm on mobile but it looks like i can't do anything but move to a higher altitude anyways

"Oh give me a break."
I drop more chaff, and turn as hard as I can without blacking out, trying to break the lock.

One of the incoming jets starts heading for you. Another attempts to close with Steele, one goes after Hurricane, and the last one engages the Mercanan squadron leader.

The second batch of chaff does the trick.

Remaining enemy craft:
4x Saab Gripen, now within more conventional weapons range.

Bell re-orients the Flanker into attack position on the approaching Gripen by dumping some of her altitude for speed, so that she could turn around without slowing down the aircraft. She locks onto the Gripen and launches a heatseeker before accelerating so that she can reach optimal AAM launch range more quickly.

I turn towards the one engaging me, lock on, and fire a heatseeker, and do the same for the one attacking the transport.

I keep the Saab in the lock circle. stuff this missile is taking a while.

The heatseeker hits the enemy plane head-on, destroying everything up to the intakes. It flies on much in the way you'd expect a plane in its condition to, which is to say it doesn't.

I turn towards the one engaging me, lock on, and fire a heatseeker, and do the same for the one attacking the transport.
The first missile strikes the enemy plane but deals a nonlethal level of damage. The second plane (which wasnt attacking a transport, by the way) drops flares and continues on its merry way chasing the Mercanan squadron leader.
: Blast, he's got me locked in! Out of flares, gonna have to maneuv- stuff!

As he attempts to dodge the missile, his badly-damaged plane finally succumbs to its severe structural wounds and tears itself asunder. A watchful eye shows you that he was able to eject, but he can't exactly defend the convoy from a parachute.

It finally reaches its target and destroys it. Before you can celebrate, however, the AWACS comes on the horn again.
: Get ready, there's another flight of planes headed this way. Something larger on the horizon, too... trying to find out what it is.

Your HUD recieves the info from the AWACS and shows the incoming planes, a pair of Rafales and another two Viggens. Steele and one of the Mercanans find themselves on the receiving end of a radar lock.

I drop chaff and break off, hoping to evade the lock. Once that's taken care of I spray some flak at a passing Gripen.

The tone drops and I see a flash. The missile has hit. Fragmented wreckage smolders and falls away from the battle. I maneuver on to the tail of a Viggen. Steele sprays it with flak. Nothing hurts my plane, though I'm sure the engines don't appreciate ingesting smoke. I switch over to HSM's and lock him up. I fire when the HSM starts growling.

The chaff successfully screws the missile. The Mercanan, being out of countermeasures from the long trip, is not as fortunate. Due to the angle of the Gripen's approach, you aren't able to land more than one solid hit with your burst.

There are no Viggens. I assume you mean Gripen. Anyway, you are able to finish off the wounded craft with a heatseeker up the tailpipe. However, the sole remaining plane gets on your tail and hoses you down with its gun, on top of attempting to lock on to you with its heatseekers.

Steele, Kissinger, and the final Mercanan fighter receive another radar lock and incoming missile from the planes loitering farther away, and to make matters worse the AWACS starts blabbing at you.
: We've got radio transmissions coming from that large contact a few miles out. Patching it through to see if any of you can understand it.
