Author Topic: Steam controller revealed: its ugly as hell  (Read 7707 times)

ugly =/= bad
well no. ugly is, like, by definition, a bad thing. I'm not gonna buy a car that's ugly. why would I buy this, if it's ugly?

Because it works well and you find it easier to play with than other controllers? Just theoretically of course.

People still buy PT Cruisers for some stupid reason and they're absolutely horrendous.

but it's not like you show off your controller to hundreds of complete strangers everyday
it doesn't matter what a controller looks like

apparently the touch pad is better than an brown townogue stick for aiming. hoping that that's true.
It's like using a trackpad; at least it's more like a mouse in the sense that you swipe to move it.
I'd take a trackpad over a joystick in a FPS any day.

ok, I can't explain that. it's probably some kind of government conspiracy. chevrolet is the illuminati or something

I don't really care whether other people like it or not. I don't want to look at it

I've used a trackpad for blockland a lot
it's about as bad as it gets

Are you people seriously arguing over aesthetics?

I feel like if you want the precision of a mouse on a controller you should use a mouse. :/

well what else are we gonna talk about? it's not like we can argue about whether or not the trackpads are actually effective. or... anything else. because we haven't used it

Laptop trackpads are very different and take getting used to.  After a week of Minecraft using only what's on my laptop, I got used to it.
It's hard to play Blockland with a controller anyways, so I wouldn't even bother trying with the steam one.

it doesn't particularly matter which game it is, though, your camera always behaves the same. having to constantly pick up your finger and move it back to the other end before sliding it across is incredibly frustrating for me. I don't even like moving the mouse cursor around like that, much less trying to control a game with it. it gets even worse when you're trying to shoot at something. I imagine that part would be a little bit easier with triggers on the back, though

Talk about it then. Arguing over something as subjective as loving looks is stupid.

If anyone's good at making controllers than logitech still takes the throne their controllers are simply amazing and easy to get a grip of. I've used many of their controllers and their still the best possible ones that there are out there but why does valve really have to make a controller? it has one of those weird trackballs, I've used many trackballs and they've worked well for me but a loving disc trackball won't get you anywhere it just doesn't work like that sonny Jim. I really like trackballs but having a flat disc instead of a ball would make me imagine it pissing many people off, imagine trying to play a game like unreal tournament 2004 with a disc-trackball to look around you would be slaughtered within seconds in that game while you're trying to move your hand over this little disc that just won't work. Look if valve really thinks that just by having a little disc doesn't mean its copying off of other game controller designs than whats the point who would bring in a court case about a game controller, you wouldn't see Peter L. Jensen to come out of his grave and throw a court case on Sony, microsoft, nintendo and who ever else just because they've stolen the Video game controller idea.

All you need on a controller is 2 brown townog sticks, d-pad, triggers and 4 buttons. Whats so hard about this? and if you want a track-ball then why not release it individually?

I don't think someone understands what's going on.

My Nintendo 64 controller saw this and hurled
