Author Topic: should marijuana be legalized for recreational use?  (Read 9348 times)

To be fair, in regards to the health issues and whether it gives you cancer or not, isn't is exceedingly common for cannabis to be mixed with tobacco, to get more joints out of a single amount of cannabis?
If you're smoking tobacco with cannabis then you're at the same risks for developing mouth/throat/lung cancer and your second-hand smoke can cause the same damages in other people.

I might be mistaken, but in the Netherlands, isn't it legal for people to smoke cannabis in public as long as it's not mixed with tobacco for this very reason?

Unsure, but it is true that breathing in fumes in general can trigger cancer. Everything that is burnt is not completely clear of carcinogenic substances.

smoke toast erry day

Smoking kills, reduction in usage of smoking products = success

Show me a list of people who have been killed directly from smoking marijuana.

Colorado is not the world

It's a big enough area with a dense enough population to show that legalization isn't going to be as harmful as one would think.

If it's not for recreational usage and it actually helps people benefit their health then i'm all for it.

So you're against recreational use because of what reason, beyond you believing that marijuana is harmful?

Both nicotine and marijuana, any drug.
Also it's not the nicotine in cigarettes that was causing the harm (other than causing an addiction), generally breating in fumes from anything is bad.

Cigarettes and cigars in general produce a special kind of harmful smoke. Marijuana smoke doesn't share any characteristics with cigarette smoke except that they're both smoke.

But yes, I believe there's a chance that you could obtain lung cancer from smoking weed. I don't exactly know, to be honest with you.

The problem with smoking marijuana in public is that the second-hand smoke is pretty potent. A vaporizer would work better, but people still believe that the vapors are as harmful as actual smoke.

I still believe that one state being legal for a short period of time cannot be extended globally.

The only reason is actually that it has side effects, dunno why you'd think I have another reason.

Breathing in something that is burnt will never be anywhere near as healthy as a breath of fresh air.

It's the fact that people will still have some level of marijuana in their bloodstream that's unappealing.

You aren't giving good enough reasons to not legalize recreational use. It's been established that the uncommon side-effects aren't something to worry about unless you're getting high every single day of the week, and the benefits of recreational use outweigh the side-effects.

I personally view it as Alcohol and Tobacco, both are abused currently.

I just really don't see why another drug should be legalised... Obviously everyone has a different opinion but in my opinion it's just not necessary. It's just another thing to add to the list above, the list of which is currently harming society.

I smoke with my friends because it's fun and social. We play DnD at my house and we have a great time. I have also heard it's great for creativity. Alcohol is also perfectly fine in moderation. It's also a very social substance. You should be worried about the people whole overuse the substance, not the substance itself. And the fact pot is incredibly less dangerous than alcohol should say a lot.

i believe it should be treated like tabaco. u can smoke it at almost any age. but must be 18 to purchase it

I still maintain it should remain illegal... Even by being illegal people still do it but at least it keeps the drug in check unlike alcohol and tobacco and their disastrous effects of having no regulation.

their disastrous effects of having no regulation.

Okay, you don't even have the slightest clue on what you're talking about

No, you don't, evidently.

In Colorado, millions of tax dollars from marijuana went to schools. You're saying we should deny easy money for govt. funding? You also want to know what was illegal and far more disasterous being illegal? Alcohol. It made the whole thing worse. You're saying we should keep people who are using the most safe recreational substance known, in jail? Is using something safer than alcohol really grounds for putting people in jail? Really?

I believe drugs should all be illegal, but its impossible for alcohol and tobacco to be made illegal since they're so widespread now.

The only thing that can be done is, keep other drugs from being legalised. This is my opinion.

Yeah I mean look at all these marijuana related deaths. They're just overflowing, we need to put and end to this menace to society. loving disastrous.
