Go. forget. Yourself.

Ask anyone on the Lets Make a Deal forum, its frowned upon, but almost every successful trader does it.

I will clarify what I mean by sharking (I may be misusing the term):

When I say sharking, I mean offering on an individual's item who has little to no experience with trading, and explaining to him or her what my offer is and that it is a great deal for him or her. The great deal part may not be true, but this type of stuff is used in nearly every business practice. Give me a break.

So in other words, you're a scumbag that'll end up as a character in a movie about a con-artist? We already know that.

A scumbag? It's just business, I restore watches in real life for school friends, and do you think that I reveal to them what other people may charge? No because I want to make money.

When did "It's just business." start being a get out of jail free card? Do hitmen avoid jail time by saying it's just business?

How can you compare murder with a business model?

Murder is a business for some. Some people make money off of murder.

I don't make money off of murder or any illegal activities, how does this even connect to my trading with virtual items on a virtual game?

Just for reference, Sharking on steam is considered bannable by sites like Steamrep and such.
Its not "just business", its called being a complete starfish to unsuspecting players and you should be ashamed of yourself for being such a scumbag.

so If you have no morals/social standards and dont want anyone to have any respect for you then keep doing what you're doing.

Holy stuff, tons of drama in here. Let's get our minds of that for now...

Who wants to bet that the Summer Games 2015 is going to happen and it's going to be a dev event? I am.

Wow Steam has some ridiculous rules, if it is a free market, then why shouldn't players be able to conduct business? (without scamming of course). I have morals and social standards, however I do not see anything wrong with saying that your offer is a good deal, even if it isn't. Every big business and company does that, and it isn't scamming. It may be false advertising at a very low level, but how else would you get people to buy into your service or business?

By providing a quality product and/or service for a reasonable price.

I hate to say it, but many businesses claim that they are selling their products at discounted products, but a lot of the time it isn't true. I can go to Dollar General and buy a .5lb jar of pretzels, and meanwhile Costco and Walmart both sell that variety of pretzels in bulk (lets just say 5lbs) for the same price of only one .5lb jar.

Wow, you're right, these are truly terrible things to do to customers
kind of like sharking

i don't think cantaloupe understands that businesses that do that crap often need to be in an environment with very little competition (e.g.: cover more ground so people are forced to use your service) to thrive

see directTv compared to uverse
uverse has very limited service areas yet does fine
directTv needs to be everywhere to stay up
