Author Topic: Furdle's Servers Megatopic  (Read 10464 times)

Recently I've been getting a lot of slack for dropping projects for various reasons. Some of these reasons are not my fault, so I've created this not only for my own records, but so people can understand why a project had to end. I usually host my projects for a certain time. I don't want things to dry up so I will end them when they've run their course. Some projects are ended because of the coder has been lazy/an starfish, sometimes I get busy in life and have to stop playing Blockland for a couple weeks, and sometimes I just get bored and lose all motivation with no support. If you like what you see, make sure to contact me and maybe you could help out on my next project. Most of these projects have had other people working on them, Thanks to everyone that's helped out so far! These are all in order (Most recent - Oldest)

Current Project

none.

Furdle's Solitude
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=272573.0
Build and mod are half finished. Project dropped due to my life being way to busy to play any computer games at all.

Furdle's Pirate RPG
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=278270.0
Something I built for fun, pretty much finished it to the level that I wanted to built it to.

Furdle's Starwars RPG
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=277045.0
Still a work in progress, had to pause the progress due to university work, but will continue later in the year.

Furdle's Grand Theft Auto
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=265279.0
The second installment of my most successful project. After the first version, Siba made me a massive mod, I had lots of support with the build and had a lot of fun with this project! It however did run its course, and when I started to stop enjoying hosting it, I decided to close it down. It died with honor. Probably wont host it again any time soon. Will not release anything from the server.

Furdle's Snowsport RPG
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=262668.0
Now this project was something I had a lot of fun on! Created a big mountain with lots of different tracks, Alexander let me use his log cabin which looked beautiful on top of the big mountain. Hosted lots of cool competitions where players could go head-to-head in big jumps, and trick parks. Might host something like this again soon!

Furdle's The Lord of The Rings RPG
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=257572.0
A small project to pass time, never finished it and I never really intended to, just wanted to make a cool build with RPG elements to it!

Furdle's Kingdom Crusade
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=254172.0
A large scale project, massive build was pretty much near completion, but Trinick was coding and he decided to bail out last minute. Will use the build for something in the future.

Furdle's Pirate RPG

http://mrlolphotography.tumblr.com/post/78118645365/also-built-by-furdle
The first of my pirate RPG's had some awesome work on this, came out exactly as I'd like and the build was one of my best build's I've ever made! It was hosted for a while then ended when I thought the time was right.
Also check out Rotondo putting it out in the twittersphere! https://twitter.com/rotondo/status/501193089978236928

Furdle's Grand Theft Auto
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=250365.0
The first installment of my Grand Theft Auto games. I started this one as an RP to decide how I'd like the mod to work, then Siba designed the mod around what I thought would work well. We had quite a lot of fun and I learnt a lot about what mods you'd need for a server. Definitely a key server in my progress towards becoming a good producer.

Furdle's Pacific War RPG
-No topic-
I wanted to create a Pacific War styled TDM with RPG elements, came up with the concept and worked really hard to make a nice build, but it all fell through when the coder was too lazy to finish the mod. Can't remember who the coder was, but it was annoying! Might be able to use the cool build later on.

SPO's Red Block Redemption
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=245563.0
An awesome project I directed with SPO. We worked pretty hard on this awesome build, ran its course for a while before we got bored of hosting it. Had plans to create a second update, completed the build for the second update, but the coder, Swollow, got lazy and quit.

Furdle's Starwars TDM(s)
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=244926.0
Really enjoyed building and hosting these three TDMs. Inspired me for the Starwars RPG that I'm now working on two years later. Really really popular server. Because I couldn't find support for creating weapons, I had to use some stuffty starwars weapons from 2010, they looked really nice and they were good, but I have to admit they weren't balanced. I get a lot of requests to host this again, glad a lot of people enjoyed it. Stopped hosting when I thought the server was finished.

Furdle's Mall RPG
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=233880.0
Created a really awesome mall, it was going to be a tycoon type of game. Whole project fell apart when Wrapperup lied about actually working on code, when I eventually realized, I couldn't find a replacement.

Furdle's The Blocking Dead
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=214857.0
The first project I would actually consider to be official enough to put on here. Built back in 2012, I really enjoyed the walking dead and wanted to make a zombie survival server. Had some nice builds and enjoyed creating it. Didn't use a lot of mods as I wanted to keep it simple. Hid weapons all over the server. RTB Hosting sponsored me and gave me a free server, which was really awesome, although it all fell apart when I realised that bots don't work when the host disconnects, and as I wanted it to be a dedicated server, I decided to play it for a while then ended the project.

This topic took ages to create. I'll update it if I think of any other builds that I've created. Let me know what was your favorite, and maybe I might do something similar or revive it. By creating this topic I realize I'll probably churn out all the drama which each of these projects had surrounding them, try and keep it on topic. Thanks.

All the great projects man...

So many great projects. It's a shame that in Blockland with such a small community, it is hard keeping interest in projects and we are all liable to do so.

Felt proud when making this topic, remembering all those fun servers. To be honest I wouldn't be in university right now studying my degree to be a computer game producer if it wasn't for the skills and knowledge I learnt from all of these.

can u pls finish mall rpg

If Furdle coded his own things... holy stuff we would have so many good servers!!
Too bad so many people backed down or stopped working on these.  A lot of them look super fun

I'm learning C and C# for my degree but I'm really bad at it lol, I wish I could code.

Those were some really great servers.

All were enjoyable.

if you know the C family pretty well, then torkscript will be easy as pie.

Eh I don't know it well that's my problem. Usually for my assignments I just copy other peoples code lol

Congrats on defeating the purpose of going to college.

Congrats on defeating the purpose of going to college.
Purpose of university (or college) is to get that piece of paper at the end, that's all. Learning things on the way is just a bonus to me.
