Author Topic: Americans choose Harriet Tubman to be on the $20 bill  (Read 48780 times)

Are you a politician? Do you know exactly how the laws are made? No, so you don't know why they aren't doing certain things. If you want to argue that these laws are made to restrict minorities from voting then go after the politicians, not the abstract system which allows basically any in-theory good in-practice bad idea, not just ones made to restrict minorities
Listen, dropping 40-50 at once can be a big deal for that kind of person but if you save it up, even a dollar a day, within a couple months you have more than enough. I'd be all for a system like Canada's where people can use things like Library cards, bus passes, SSN or SIN's, stuff like that. But again, I'm not a politician.
I am going after the politicians, wtf. I never said the laws are bad, I said they are abused and only cared about when they advance these politicians goals. Now my question to you, do you live in a low income area of the United States? Do you know what it's like having to deal with these problems?

When the majority of the impoverished spend their money on sneakers and new phones, that's when you draw the line and realize the extent of welfare abuse nationwide.
define "majority"
i can see your point about welfare abuse, but i feel as though the majority of the impoverished would use the money for better things

Giving money to these uneducated people will not help them, forcefully sending them to educational institutions will help them. Otherwise, the money will keep going down exponentially. That's not to say that some people desperately need welfare though.
shoes and phones are needed lol. Not having shoes or phones put you at a massive disadvantage.

Think about it, a phone is literally access to all of the information in the world. Imagine that for a second.

We need phones.

Shoes are pretty damn important

Yeah but why
Voter impersonation just does not happen that often

Idk about Canada, but in the US, none of these are photo id and thus do absolutely nothing to prove it's you

Also I've seen stories about billboards/etc advertisements specifically placed in primarily democrat voting areas warning about voter fraud worded in such a way that it's just trying to scare people away from voting. Whenever your see something with such a strong partisan divide over an issue as seemingly nonpartisan as "protecting from fraud" it's a good time to step back and ask "why"

And access to jobs. Try finding a job without a way to be contacted.

Does the English crown have to pay my family money for the hundreds of years of serfdom that my ancestors faced?  Does the Czech Republic owe me money because they forced my German great grandparents to relocate as WWII ended?  German families for their ancestors' serfs?  Regardless of whether or not I need it or not, is that just?  I've got cousins down in Florida who've done nothing with their lives and aren't well off; do they deserve compensation money while I don't because my family's not doing bad?

If you're going to support reparations, it is unjust to say that it should only go to the worst off given that the current circumstances are not the source of reparations.  If you're going to support welfare, you have only the current situation to use as a moral framework, not the bitterness of generations gone.

IDs make sense.  Offer them free or for a nominal price and keep the paperwork minimal.  Those that fail to take advantage of it don't strike me as really caring enough to vote anyway, or if they did, they used their free will to put themselves in a position to not be able to should what I described be implemented.
Gerrymandering is used by all parties once they're in charge.

I feel like cigarettes or scratch tickets would be a more likely purchase.

You don't need an iPhone, sure a cell phone should be owned by everyone, however if you cant afford to get the most basic essentials (food, clothing) then get a flip phone. Shoes are needed as well, but spending hundreds on Nike's is abusing the system at best. There is no excuse for that, and when these suckers have more kids to get more money from the state is what sickens me.

There are a lot of carriers offering free low end or even decent smart phones for free with a contract. I used to ride public transit and I saw a lot of people with low end phones.
Do you have any thing to cite that poor people are buying high end stuff?
I'm sure it's out there but I really don't think it's anywhere near the extent people like to claim

Y'know I apologize, I think I misunderstood the purpose of your original post. It wasn't to say "This only applies to blacks and the law is tribal" but that it does apply to blacks, since that was the topic at hand. I realize that it does make things more difficult, especially for the near-homeless population who would have much more difficulty actually saving up enough money to get proper ID when they would be much better off spending it on other necessities. Also I'm not trying to argue that there aren't people being tribal or have any sort of tribal agenda. Given the evidence it's entirely possible but again, I'm not a politician. I can't say for sure.

Also just to note, birth certificates appear to not have any expiry date, so all in all it would be a max $60 fee for the first 2 votes you want to cast and then $20 per 2 votes after that, since the state ID lasts for 5 years and an election is held every 4 years, you can get your state ID within a few months of the first voting and then it'll still be valid 4 years later.

I see it with my own eyes. I've passed by welfare offices before, and all I see are fatasses with four kids with their iPhones and Air Jordan's. If they are so poor, where do they get the money for these items? I don't know the percentage of these welfare moochers, but there are certainly more than you think. Visit a welfare office in an inner-city, and you'll get the picture of the fraud going on in this nation.

I see it with my own eyes.
yeah well anecdotal evidence is worthless

why don't we just put our avatars on money

yeah well anecdotal evidence is worthless

To you it is, visit your local welfare office if you live in a large metro city and you will get the picture.

It's not the corporations mooching off of the government, it is the little guy mooching off. I don't blame the big corporations for evading taxes once in a blue moon, without business, we have nothing! Unions should be completely abolished, and the workers should be put into the hands of the employer solely without the noses of the unions. Power to the corporations and big businesses! It's the big man who created this nation, not the little blue collar worker!
good lord
