Did you even bother with the consumer preview?

Technical Preview was for Enterprise users, before all the consumer features got added.
well, it had Cortana...

I didn't know there was a difference.

Its ok I blame the guy who comes up with all the names for Microsoft Products right now, have you seen the ridiculous long names ?

Like...Windows 10 Consumer Preview for Mobile 64bit with Bing?

do the people with the technical preview get the upgrade too?

you don't lose data when you upgrade ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's what I wanted to know. It's just like updating the OS? No need to wipe and install new one?

forget they changed it

you can download the ISO from the download site,
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-iso

what are you doing no stop
installing this over your normal installation will almost certainly not get you the final version of Windows 10 for free
this is the unstable preview version of Windows 10
the actual update will be here July 29th

My first and so far only time using windows 10 was an emulator on a Mac. It crashed so hard that I had to restart my computer, not just the virtual machine.

I think this may have to do with the ways Macs are configured, but I'm still going to wait a while before updating. Perhaps right before the free beta ends.

Windows 10 is a ton more stable then it used to be. The only thing that breaks right now is the start menu sometimes gets stuck closed for a bit.

guys pla help I'm stuck with the home preview

I get errors when updating so it can't force update

would the reserve notification not be showing up because i don't bother with optional windows updates? i have 60

home preview what is that? if you can't update 10 because of updater erroring you can update it with the newest version iso.

There's also a registry fix but it didn't work for me.

i went ahead and checked if i had the required updates mentioned in http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-win_upgrade/i-want-to-reserve-my-free-copy-of-windows-10-but-i/848b5cce-958b-49ae-a132-a999a883265b

apparently i don't, downloading them now

edit: nvm, i do have them. i'm updating anyway, and i guess i can try the other things.
either way:

PCs that we determine cannot run Windows 10 will not see the Get Windows 10 app before July 29th.  After July 29th, we’ll enable the icon in the system tray.  This is to help ensure that you can easily check your PC’s compatibility if you choose.

so if that's the case i'll still be able to upgrade once w10 is actually out
