Besides the fact that pretty much nothing in the op has anything to do with anything but Fallout 4: If the entire point of your post is 'muh old phullouts', why even bother.
That's besides the point, the hotest topic surrounding fallout is the hype for Fallout 4 so why not have it plastered it all over the op?

because there have been plenty of discussions about the other games in this thread (fallout shelters, new vegas, 3 etc.), if you were here for any reason other than complaining about how people are talking about fo1/2..

Lmfao, struck a nerve did I? Does my suggestion offend you so much that you have to cry about it? consider growing up.

Have you tried not being a gaping starfish every now and then? It's a quite pleasant pastime.

Because the recent Fallout general thread died.

Discussion about older fallout games is fine
Whining that all the new ones suck isn't

Pretty much how I've been feeling the last few pages. I like hearing about the older games because I know I probably won't get to them in the near future, even though I own them. But even still, I love the more recent additions to the series, and the thread was originally created for 4, so I don't see a reason to post in this thread about how much you hate the new Fallout games unless you're just trolling the people who are here that love them. Obviously critiquing bits of the game that you don't like is productive, Bethesda doesn't make flawless games in any stretch of the imagination. But posting about how stuffty the new games are compared to the old ones, and how Bethesda 'destroyed the lore' or whatever of Interplay's Fallout; that's just stupid and clearly you're trying to get fans of the games to argue with you.

Nah, it's just FO3 that sucks.

I found FO3 enjoyable from a gameplay standpoint. The only major flaw was the story, and traversing the ruins of DC.

From a technical standpoint it was by no means impressive, but that's usually how Bethesda does what they do.

With interplay under the Caen leadership the series was definitely hurting. They canceled Van Buren in favor of making a playstation 2/xbox game called Brotherhood of Steel which was really bad and even Beth doesn't consider it cannon. Fallout 3 is more of a fallout game then this abomination will ever be

Anyway it was pretty interesting to see who had interest in the Fallout IP. There was Troika which was the FO1 dev camp, there was Bioware who got their start by having Interplay publishing there stuff however they would probably pandered heavily to the love drama crowd and dlc'd the stuff under EA, so Beth was probably the second best choice.

FO3 was bad to mediocre in its gameplay because the Gamebryo engine is as floaty as stuff and all of the enemies are bullet sponges, ESPECIALLY those god awful Ghoul Reavers and Super Mutant Overlords whic take at least 50-100 laser rifle shots on very high difficulty to kill.

The story was (as in most Bethesda games) nearly universally lowest-common denominator trash. The first "moral choice" you're tasked with is to either do a smart and sensical thing (disarm the bomb in Megaton, save everybody there, and preserve the second largest population hub in the game world) or be cartoonishly evil and do the stupidest thing imaginable (destroy one of the few towns in the Wasteland, both depriving you of a lot of quests, and one of the few decent merchants in the game.) It's childish, asinine, and it sets the (awful) tone for the rest of the game.

Ok whatever you guys say I still enjoyed the hell out of fallout 3 and nv when I played it

I'm not denying the validity of these points, they definitely have truth behind them.

I feel Fallout 3 isn't really supposed to be a serious, gritty game. The main story may feel like that's what it attempts to do, but it feels like they didn't go after a very serious tone, making the first moral choice seem fitting. Moira seems to be a great example of this with her stupidity and airy "dumb-blonde" voice. The complete silly moments like the pint sized slasher and little lamplight, I don't remember FO3 for a riveting story and immersive gameplay, I remember it for being fun. New Vegas does mix this up a bit and makes it a bit more serious, while still being fun.

It's definitely not what some people want out of a Fallout, so I of course understand why someone might not enjoy this game as much, but I found it to be an enjoyable experience with memorable moments.

ghoul reavers were certified grade a bullstuff for sure

I always blew up Megaton after robbing the local population blind... :P
