Obisidan destroyed BioWare with KotORII and Neverwinter Nights 2, massacred Bethesda with the original Fallouts and New Vegas, and wrecked Interplay with Wasteland 2. If publishers stopped giving them utterly ridiculous timelines to make their games (KotORII was done in ELEVEN months, whereas KotOR took 3 YEARS), they would probably be some of the best games of all time.
i can't speak much on KotOR, but i really enjoyed new vegas and wasteland 2 was pretty cool, and i've yet to try fallout 1 and 2 but they look real cool

then could you imagine what they could do with a proper development time? imagine a f:nv with the same detail as f3, or a wasteland 2 with as much polish as a very well polished shoe? i really want them to be the best they can be, and i really hope that they're going to be allowed to soon

I have mixed feelings with obsidian. The way they make their games and manage their titles is what bugs me the most, both the ones they make and publish. Mostly because they come out buggy, clunky, rushed, or didn't live up to the hype. Some examples might be Rage and Brink.

Fallout 3 on the other hand suffers from a mix of engine and lacks the aspect of what makes Fallout a fallout game. There was also the Fallout online controversy where they let Interplay make another fallout game, however Bethesda decided to be an ass about it and say that only Interplay could use the name and nothing else which lead to the big lawsuit that Bethesda won. Interplay under the Caen is a stuff company, however that is still a richard move on Beth's part.

Wasteland 2 was mostly an inexile thing while obsidian played some part in it since both companies were started by former interplay and black isle employees. Good game, however the LA part wasn't as fun as the Arizona part.

Wait Bethesda is making the new one? I thought Obsidian had like a 3 game plan for Fallout starting with New Vegas or something like that.

Nope. Bethesda is all in on this one.

So if this is true (hoping it is) where do you guys think/hope it will take place?

I'd prefer it to be west coast still, but knowing Bethesda they will probably base it east coast so they can forget with the lore again.

I think it would be cool if most of the map was the small towns of Massachusetts with a few main coastal cities such as Boston, Newport and Salem.
This would also already provide some structure for storyline of the game. The player could start out in Western Massachussets like in the Springfield area and embark on some sort of quest for whatever reason that leads them to the east coast.
Also the Synth Retention Bureau is located in MIT so it also makes sense to take place in Boston. The SRB and The Railroad could be like the NCR and Legion. Also it would be pretty sweet to fight against/with androids.

I also wouldn't mind seeing renovated or completely reimagined mojave either.

Just make it a bit greener lol. Fallout 2 had a lot of green and neon and it could help to spice up the aesthetics of the series.

Not to mention that its loving 200+ years since the bombs fell.
