I have mixed feelings with obsidian. The way they make their games and manage their titles is what bugs me the most, both the ones they make and publish. Mostly because they come out buggy, clunky, rushed, or didn't live up to the hype. Some examples might be Rage and Brink.
Fallout 3 on the other hand suffers from a mix of engine and lacks the aspect of what makes Fallout a fallout game. There was also the Fallout online controversy where they let Interplay make another fallout game, however Bethesda decided to be an ass about it and say that only Interplay could use the name and nothing else which lead to the big lawsuit that Bethesda won. Interplay under the Caen is a stuff company, however that is still a richard move on Beth's part.
Obisidan destroyed BioWare with KotORII and Neverwinter Nights 2, massacred Bethesda with the original Fallouts and New Vegas, and wrecked Interplay with Wasteland 2. If publishers stopped giving them utterly ridiculous timelines to make their games (KotORII was done in ELEVEN months, whereas KotOR took 3 YEARS), they would probably be some of the best games of all time.
Wasteland 2 was mostly an inexile thing while obsidian played some part in it since both companies were started by former interplay and black isle employees. Good game, however the LA part wasn't as fun as the Arizona part.
