I just thought about this, but... A possible reason for the game being male-protag only could be that they don't want to have 2x as many dialogue lines to record and store, which would be further amplified by the fact that according to the leak, the protag is going to be voiced now. So again, 2x as much dialogue. That might be too costly in terms of storage.

the leak is fake as hell

still, they'd have to record a lot of dialogue twice to account for he/she even without that

Who knows maybe the character at the end of the trailer is an npc, maybe you only talk in cutscenes, maybe the character only talks in the trailer. Who knows.

I am apposed to the idea of voiced character because part of the fun with PnP style rpgs and that this is your character that you have made. It would also limit the dialogue a quite a bit

The solution to this problem isn't to have both sets of male and female dialogue but to have no voiced dialogue at all. Fallout wasn't just fine without voiced dialogue, as a open-world free form RPG it needed silent dialogue so the player could step into the shoes of the character he/she is controlling.

I hope it's just an example character/NPC for that reason.

Saints Row 3 and 4 had 7 different voices for the protagonist..

Then again, Saints Row doesn't have that much branching dialogue.

How many voices did Mass Effect have? Was it just the two for male/female?

installing f:nv right now for the nostalgia, super pumped.

I've been playing Witcher and KSP, but now I think I might need to take a look at F3 and New Vegas. :P

But yeah, the solution to saving money and space on voice acting...

Is to just not have the main character voiced.

There's actually a lot of lore things from fallout 1 and 2 that 3 and new vegas seem to have just written out, it's really strange.

Yeah. Beth also took the 50s retro thing a bit too far since the in FO1 the vaults were supposed to be like the house of tomorrow while the outside was more 80s like.

I love the 50s stuff
