The Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch just came out the other day by the way, probably worth it even if you don't normally play with mods
Thanks, I was wondering when this would pop up.

what exactly is using so much steel? I tend to be drowning in it after a few hours because it's everywhere, though I don't do much with settlements like I imagine you need to for survival mode
You can go through it quite easily if you build large. Almost all structural items require 5+ steel, whether they're wooden or concrete.
Plus beds, cabinets, shops, generators, workbenches, turrets and more will require steel.

I tend to have quite a decent stockpile though. Cans are common and provide a lot, and I always pick up combat/assault rifles for deconstruction.

Holy stuff mini nukes weigh 12 pounds, that's awesome.

I'm right now looking at the differences on what's new with the new survival mode.

I'm gonna definitely replay this game and start on a new character now. I didn't know this new survival mode was that hardcore.

The new survival mode is even better than the hardcore mode with New Vegas.

Glad to see fans pressured Bethesda into changing survival.

who are you and what did you do with tony

Nah man I just appreciate a decent survival mode. They listened to the fans and caved in like they should have.

Everything. I build prefabs, settlement walls, turrets. Every settlement I have has a reasonable defense of 20 or more. The Castle and Sanctuary generate over 300 water. Also building robot provisioners.

My new least favourite thing is that, if you get Wasteland Workshop, you can build garden planters, so you can let your settlers grow crops in areas with little space.

HOWEVER, you can't build any planters in the Airport Settlement!
It has 0 dirt in it, in the vanilla game, so you don't even get the option of planting food in the workshop menu.
And now that WW is out, you still don't get the option to place food or build a planter.

It's basically the only settlement I can think of that would really benefits from having planters. :z

After completing the automatron DLC on survival, I no longer have a steel shortage. From 60 steel to 800 from cleaning out the robot factory, the only thing I am in short supply of now is copper.

creation kit beta released

expect dank new mods and mod updates within the next week

My impenetrable wall of turrets at Warwick Homestead.

Approx 15 turrets (mix of shotgun, missile and heavy laser), on a solid concrete wall, with a powered door.
Nothing gets in without my say so.

Although, sometimes when raiders spawn to attack, a couple of them will spawn inside the wall itself, since I built the wall right up to the edge of the settlement boundary.

oh man the Spring Cleaning mod is so good, I think I might actually spend time with settlements this time around now that I can get rid of all the annoying piles of trash on the ground

Shoulda called it Annoying Orange's wall

This is just a prototype.
In the future it will stretch across the Commonwealth, and will keep Synths out.

I love how in the geck video Bethesda put out they pretty much admitted Preston's quests suck
