people need to stop pretending playing mid tiers is more honorable or something
just play who youre comfortable with

for a bunch of the people who stay with mid-low tiers, i think it's more like "i find this character fun so i'm gonna use it" (unless you're kage the warrior)

to drop them for objectively better characters is fine as long as the magic of the game doesn't die for you if you switch; that's when it can become tedious and, often, not fun

I just felt like I progressed more with IC's then any other character, but the matchups and how easy it is to gimp is annoying

play whoever you want, you get more +rep if you win a tournament with bowser like i did.

(we're talking about melee bowser here).

yeah if you find them fun use them
but if you really want to win theres no shame in using a good character

yeah you have to work way harder as a mid tier so it sharpens your skills
like melee falcos often plateau once their punish game is good because they rely so heavily on lasers for openings. had they played another character before it might not be an issue tho
