really sucks that reconstruction went the way it did. even now the south kinda lags behind on some things

idk if people that actually fly/use the confederate flag do it cus they're some kind of extreme reactionary southern pro-slavery w/e. i've lived in the south my whole life and i've seen some of the worst it has to offer in that regard, and it's always seemed to me as more of a weird "southern pride" kind of thing, which is still kinda weird, but w/e i guess. i've never actually heard it explained, and it's defo in poor taste, but i guess it's the most pertinent symbol of "the South" there is, which is kinda unfortunate because of its obvious (and justified) negative connotations

Citizens shouldn't be banned from owning it (First amendment and all), but it should definitely not be prominently displayed on government property. Its a symbol of failed treachery that wanted to rely on backwards infrastructure and a social aristocracy.

not really, the only case of censorship i've heard about is the swastika, which i feel is justified
Video games are heavily censored. Swastikas have to removed, there can be no blood, and all character models have to look like robots.

government watchlists
This is one of the reasons for wanting a smaller government

but its legal to be tribal.
oh, yeah.  i forgot i was talking about douchecountry here, my bad

They don't allow the national socialist salute either. They also censor violent games and movies.

why/how can it actually ever be illegal. who is the authority on mind reading and mind control?

you can only ban actions, not ideas.
a symbolic flag is nothing but an idea. a flag cannot hurt anyone. and getting rid of the flag dosnt make people any less tribal.

you are stupid for thinking otherwise.

you are one of those people who cry over flag burning arent you.
well you keep taking those little rights away from people and they will have no other way to express hate then to burn a government building instead.
there is a reason ideas need to be expressed.

pretty easy to see the Southerners here
Southern pride is dumb, you're part of the same country.

as an Arizonan I don't feel distinct from Pennsylvanians or Montanans in any significant way

All the countries in the world have done stuffty things. Like Russia and the USSR for example when the deported the Tartars, or most of Western Europe and how they ran Africa, or Canada with its Residential Schools.

idk if arizona is considered part of "the South," but southern pride p much exists because what i guess can only be explained as a kind of southern subculture, and i don't think there's anything wrong with being proud of w/e culture you're a part of. it's not necessarily a matter of saying x region is inherently better, it's just an appreciation for it. at least that's what i'm assuming since i've never experienced "southern pride" firsthand (though, secondhand, i've seen plenty)

or russia and (i think) america funding a stuffstorm on ukrainian territory.

arizona isnt part of the deep south but the confederates claimed it as a territory if that counts

Which one exactly
A cross with 13 stars
Or the actual CSA flag

there's three csa national flags so

Damn this is a tough topic. I don't think it should be banned, but it's just seen as morally unethical in today's standards. You'll be frowned upon but you still have a right to express yourself freely but there is a line between free speech and hate speech.
