Jesus, these posts by Val are some of the most unpleasant things I've read on the forum in a long time.  You know all those shock images where some homeless guy has an infected wound and the camera zooms in and it's writhing with maggots? - it's like that except with a personality.  A decayed psyche stemming from years of neglect, that even if repaired would be horrifically deficient.  A ruined and mutilated person, stumbling around unaware of their own injuries.

If you aren't aware, Val is Computermix.

Expected.

hodot was harsh there but he has a point, you guys need to relax

anyways here's a backup link ipquarx made, make sure to watch the tutorial video first

You also need the Macro Saver

All it takes is a small chunk of your time to sit down and write something.
"all it takes it to sit down and learn how to code"
Dumbest thing I've read in years.

this thread is funny. also i have it installed but i can't be certain if it works

why would i spend time making another addon when one currently exists, and there's people PM'ing it to others

"Just make it yourself" definitely isn't valid for topics that request huge projects and tasks that are demanding. Taken out of context and applied to the average case around here, you're right.

But there's more variables to consider than just intuition. Realize that this is literally scanning pixels on an image and matching it to pre-defined colors (depending on how complex you want it, but this is about as simple as it gets). Take python for example- there's hundreds of tutorials, a nice image library (also with hundreds of tutorials), and in addition there's plenty of experienced people around here that can assist when you really get stuck.

All it takes is a small chunk of your time to sit down and write something. Maybe not in 30 minutes, but that part was more of an exaggeration for how simple it is to induce encouragement (and not necessarily in my eyes either, lots of people have done this and expressed how they overestimated the difficulty)

>reasonable suggestion for an addon that has already been done
>respond with "make it yourself"

Do you even realize how stupid you sound?

ok but it takes less than 30 minutes to send a file and you can do other things in the mean time
telling people to do it themselves is not even remotely helpful, ESPECIALLY when it already exists

Well, yeah? Of course rewriting it isn't faster. If the desire was efficiency then I'd sound stupid (as you can see, there's good proof of this above). But there's more to it than getting your final product- it's a nice puzzle for introductory programming and a fantastic learning experience.

Don't want to do it? That's fine, just ignore my post.

That is the equivalent of an architect being hired to make a house, but instead the architect tells the person hiring them to learn how to do it themselves.
