Author Topic: fitness motivator's rant about overwieght and obese people  (Read 2651 times)

it's really just dudes projecting their own insecurities onto other people. they want other people to feel bad about themselves so they can feel good about how they look. afaic, you have to care about the person before you care about their health. i wouldn't care if Riddler was eating too many donuts because i don't care for Riddler. if my uncle was morbidly obese, i'd want him to eat healthy. but feeling like you wanna puke when you see someone who you don't think is beautiful? you're soundin like a villain.

and hey: eat whatever you want, cus i'd rather hang out with kevin smith or patrice o'neal then spend a second with this boring narcissisus. even in his forgetin manifesto he has nothing interesting to say. he's just fit.
But now that is just you projecting that opinion unto him.
Finding people disgusting because of their appearance isn't a good thing obviously, but what he was saying is truth, it shows a clear lack of self discipline or effort put in to being a healthy person, and most of all, as he said, the children of these people are suffering unfairly from it. Parents that are too lazy/uneducated on health matters that feed their children mcdonalds whenever they want are depriving them of a healthy lifestyle which is not an okay thing to do. If you see someone that feeds their pets unhealthy food you think "oh thats terrible for that dog" when these parents are doing the same to their children because they won't take responsibility for their actions upon themselves and so excuse their poor eating habits for their children.
Eating healthy isn't just about your body's look/being fit, a healthy diet and excercise has an incredible effect on the mental state of a person. When you are active and healthy you feel great about yourself and have a proactive look on life, by being too lazy to even attempt to implement this in to your or your child's life you are doing nothing but harm.
He isn't talking about being ripped like he is and thinking everyone should be working out and having tank muscles, he is talking about not being overweight as forget which is terrible for your mind, body and life overall (or what you get to live of it)
It's easy to brush it all off as just a fit guy polishing his ego and saying how everyone should either be fit like him or they are stuff, but that's not the case, it is just an excuse to ignore the completely logical points he is making.
You don't have to be ripped to be healthy.

full disclosure: im overweight

im for fat acceptance in that i dont want people to judge one another for their health
HAES is stupid
pretending being fat is still "beautiful" is also stupid (instead of pretending being obese and having body hair is beautiful, people should be focusing on emphasizing that you can have value without being a model)

that being said my health is not anyone's business but mine and my loved ones'
and there are a million different circumstances that can produce an overweight individual, it can be more complex than "that person is a lazy slob with no motivation"
for these reasons i think one should withhold judgment

this

like all the stuff with "thin priviledge" and "fat is beautiful" is ridiculous

im 230 lbs, and that is definitely not beautiful, but you know what, im not being "descriminated" for it

sure im trying to lose weight, but that's not the "evil media", it's because I don't want to have 50 diseases because I didn't decided to lose weight

Initially I saw the thumbnail for this video and figured it was some clickbait controversy stuff, it has an angry super red dude with no shirt yelling in a gym so I didn't click it.

After having watched it I agree with most of it, he seemed to be targeting very specific groups, like unhealthy parents or dangerously unhealthy people. None of it was hateful. I figured he'd be screaming like a drill sergeant, it was very much not like that.

I feel like overworked parents, particularly families in poverty, tend toward unhealthiness because getting McDonalds or whatever is faster than cooking or making something. They have too much stuff on their plates, they don't have time. His solutions don't work for everybody.

so basically OP is just bad at interpreting things

"So this guy got really pissed off with the fact that there are too many obese and overweight people today (which is very loving vague as I don't see that many overweight people in public and he doesn't specify which community or society he is talking about)"

Well he's probably talking about the good ol' US of A, with a national percentage of obese adults at 36%.

A more detailed look.

my county is in the lightest color hahaha suck it

wait thats nothing to be proud of since thats still 11.5 percent forget

I think part of the problem is that unhealthy food tastes so good and has all that salt and stuff too make it addictive. Plus it's all processed so it's not all that filling despite the fact they contain high amounts of calories. The other problem that sev has pointed out where we have created a cultural norm where it's okay to encourage and accept bad life styles.

Also if genetics is a problem, how come the rest of the world doesn't have this genetics problem on a scale like the US does?

to 26.2

he is right
and anyone saying overweight people are ugly is right
obesity is not a handicap. obesity is ultimately your fault if you are obese. if you are one of those people who support the non-existent (or should I say shouldn't exist) "fat acceptance", you are an issue.
fat is not a disease, nor a disorder. get off your ass and exercise, or be ok with the people making fun of your weight. and it's not even bullying, it's just being sane- being fat makes you a handicap for society while you aren't even handicapped.

cannot stress this enough: I do not dislike all fat people, I only dislike those having no initiative to change. it's loving stupid to not change. why would you not want to?

Fat acceptance movement (SJW one) is bullstuff

"hey guys let me rant about being accepted in society while I have a surplus of food and others have no food at all!"

To be honest, there are certain people who give the appearance of being somewhat overweight, but are actually perfectly healthy and do exercise and eat right. I have a friend who is like this, and it would be unfair to think less of her for the appearance of being somewhat overweight. I feel like this guy would be disgusted with her before even getting to know her. Maybe if people are like, layers fat, then sure. But some people can seem somewhat chubby and be perfectly healthy.

of course the south has the most obese people lmao

thats usually skinnyfat/chubbiness like you're describing which is fine healthwise.

the real issue is clinically obese people trying to glorify themselves and their unhealthy lifestyle

She posts stuff to Tumblr about how it's possible to be slightly chubby and still be healthy, and that people like her are often judged without reason, which might be seen as pride. Yeah fatness is often a sign of laziness and bad health, but you shouldn't immediately judge people who only seem a little chubby.
