I dont get what makes the whole spare thing so difficult for toriel. I mean come on, one of the frogs TELL you "Someday you may have to spare an enemy even if there name isnt yellow" And the text int he fight itself progresses when you do spare.
Its a simple loving concept that people don't seem to get with that fight. Also,  everything the monsters say can pretty much be taken seriously, and it hints at this from the very beginning when she tells you to talk to the dummy instead of fighting.

Yeah, but the review overall was very negative, a lot of which came from blaming the game for the reviewers mistakes. I see why people don't take metacritic seriously now though, because critics like this are added to the total score.

I messed up on that part too, mainly because another frog mentions that most monsters can be spared when low on health. Of course, that doesn't go well on a certain fight and I ended up killing someone on my first run accidentally. I didn't blame the game, though, I realized my mistake and tried much harder on fights later on.
