Author Topic: Why don't storm troopers shoot bullets?  (Read 8986 times)

Stfu you nerd. They wear robes, play with magic and have glow sticks
Jedi is another word for fairy
loving gay
There's a lot of nerds who would love to get their hands on a Jedi's chem light if you catch my drift ;)

Real laser guns wouldn't shoot a projectile anyways.
Yeah for real. Think how quickly we could set Jedi on fire if we just stopped shooting bolts.

The reality is though is that there are no major ballistic weapons in use in the Star Wars Universe. Just lasers and i think most people are fine with that.

Unpopular Opinion: Star Wars would be just fine without the Force and all the magical little mary sues with it.

now see the thing is
you don't need a lightsaber to stop bullets
a competent jedi (think obi wan or anakin) could easily stop a hail of bullets in their tracks with just a bit of magic handwaving.
you're right however in that it catches the audience's eye with flashy effects, and so it won't change. i disagree that it would be "just fine" without lasers and the like, however, as these flashy effects and the superweapons were part of what made star wars so successful. star wars helped pioneer modern special effects.

this is also true

Next Star wars movie:

Long Long time after the first movie, in a galaxy closer than before

empire comes back
invades earth
will smith blows up their death star
end

If they're fast enough to give a wave before any of the ammunition meets its mark. I don't see why people keep coming back to this.

Jedi have more reflexes than others granted, but response time is everything. The lasers in star wars move slow if the films are anything to go by. An actual bullet isn't going to make a bright flash or waste its time reaching its target. Handwaves mean little in defense especially when dealing with supersonic ammunition. I could believe a Jedi could stop sub-sonic ammo due to moving slower but even then its a slim chance.

force sensitive people don't need to see what they're manipulating
furthermore, depending on their strength a hail of bullets from small arms probably wouldn't harm them

jedi are able to pull crazy bullstuff like wrecking swathes of droids (with the force, not their lightsabers) inducing avalanches and carrying themselves thru the air in mega leaps

they aren't really affected by things like stopping power bc the force is taking the load, not the jedi

ofc for defending them nickpb will probably say im a neckbeard since he's fabricated a reason to hate people because they watch star wars

reaction time isn't a good argument when they can feel the stormtroopers pulling the trigger btw

Yeah that explains why Mundi got shot to death by clone troopers, shouldn't he have felt that trigger being pulled maybe felt a little disturbance with his loving spidey-sense eh? I'm taking directly from the Jedi you see in the films, not the ones you read about in Jim-Bob-Fanboy's published book from the expanded universe.

Again I feel that Jedi are over-idealized wet-dreams that "can't be hurt by nuffin!!!"

Ballistic bullets could be stopped by the force, because they're a physical object that can be manipulated. Its more difficult to manipulate a laser blast because they're pure energy.

These laser beams are too slow though. In reality a laser beam would be almost instant.

Sure they can, you just got to be fast enough and i'm convinced that Jedi are definitely not up to the task

The ongoing argument in this thread that "bullets can be burned and melted using lightsabers." When was the last time you seen a bullet or multiple bullets be cut in half by a sword? Of course many movies have the 'cool action character' where he can cut bullets in half with a sword, but do you really think a Jedi would be able to deflect all the bullets from a machine gun? Bullets travel way faster than the laser beams coming out of an e-11 blaster rifle, I don't know if i'm crazy but it seems to me that the e-11 fires lasers really loving slow.

Jedi would need to use the force for this, and using the force repeatedly is exhausting (its kinda like mana). If a Jedi goes up against three storm troopers with MG-42s he would be cut down in a matter of seconds.

but

lol

he's in a battle? he thought they were on his side so it isn't out of the ordinary for his own guys to shoot right??

he dies because he can't comprehend that he's being betrayed

at this point it's just lasers>bullets but its a cinematic choice to have them shoot slowly

I love all the nerds getting actually upset at the idea of their jedi lovers bleeding from bullet wounds because they were 2 mediocre to be an actual viable soldier when faced with conventional weapons

Jedi are literally the biggest pussies

But Yoda could? He was busy directing the battle of kashyyyk.

According to numbers from wookiepedia it was estimated that there were over 10,000 jedi in the order before the purge. You would think with how "powerful" we make these characters out to be that there would be more survivors.

I think the jedi in the books > jedi in the movies by far in that case. Movie Jedi are apparently a bunch of weak laser sponges.
