Author Topic: Why don't storm troopers shoot bullets?  (Read 9007 times)

because then there wouldn't be a plot if a storm trooper just shot a jedi in the head and instakilled him. realism =/= interesting.

since a bullet has weight unlike a laser, a simple force push could stop any in their tracks.

Well a bullet would be just as useless even if the Jedi was unarmed because stormtroopers can't shoot anything

Giving them real guns wouldn't help cause they cant aim either way :^)

because the gravity differs from planet to planet so ballistic ammo wouldnt work?
also blasters can fire in zero g while guns obviously cant

Because the Jedi are lame and need the added bonus of ineffective future guns so they don't all die.

It isn't real life, stop trying to make it realistic. Just accept that the point of the movies isn't how to kill Jedi best, it's about a young man finding out who he really is and saving the world.

that's the only thing that matters

yeah they can? why wouldn't they be able to? I can't think of any part of a firearm that relies on gravity

Well, no human not even Jedi can move fast enough to block a bullet. There have been cases of deflected bullets by blade, but that was by complete accident. A 30mm gatling gun would turn a Jedi into a lukewarm swamp.

If I could tolerate a planet and its gravity, that's enough for a projectile that weighs 7 grams and travels over 1,200 fps can do some serious damage. In fact, I'd rather not get shot on a planet that makes me heavier.

Because the Empire has to use the metal normally used for bullets to keep rebuilding the Death Star

because its theme is sci-fi, not fallout 4 you dingus

I hate this kind of response.

You have to be really loving fast to take care of THAT many projectiles at the same time, which no Jedi is. Bullets would eviscerate them, force or no force. Hell they couldn't even stop all the LASERS going their way when they were slaughtered at the temple, and those were projectiles that they were GOOD at blocking. The force isn't some magical solve-all power that you can just use to block a million projectiles going at various velocities, ESPECIALLY when dealing with the cycling rates of automatic ballistic firearms which unlike the wierd-ass lasers in this universe, cannot be seen and reach their targets almost instantly.

The reality is though is that there are no major ballistic weapons in use in the Star Wars Universe. Just lasers and i think most people are fine with that.

Unpopular Opinion: Star Wars would be just fine without the Force and all the magical little mary sues with it.

imo I want to see more saber-wielding bounty hunters

like sabers would be a great tool for bounty hunters

I was fine with telekinesis, but using the Force to gain every conceivable superpower put them over the top for me.

Maybe the new movies will tone them down a bit, maybe not.

Real laser guns wouldn't shoot a projectile anyways.
