Author Topic: Internet privacy in the US is about to come to an end.  (Read 9098 times)

i'm going to explain this in a way that anyone could understand:
you don't like people randomly barging into your room and looking through your stuff and taking pictures even though you may not have been doing anything wrong, correct? that's what this bill is going to be doing.
people barging into my house and some guy randomly logging my internet traffic are two different things

you think they're gonna look at your stuff out of a possible 223 million other people?

pls

you got at LEAST a 1/100,000,000 chance of being 'selected'. odds go up if you call a bomb threat into your school though.

people barging into my house and some guy randomly logging my internet traffic are two different things
but they're quite similar as you exist on the internet and in real life

idk mate im just guessing based on what people are saying in this thread
i haven't even read on the bill or anything so take whatever i'm saying with a grain of salt

Oh well, guys, if you want to feel safer, just think twice about what you send off into the internet.

The point still stands that more surveillance won't fix anything unless someone is stupid enough to post a threat on facebook or something. Real criminals will actually be smart and use secure communication.

a better brown townogy would be cameras in your home

Yes, stop torrenting illegal research and you'll be safe!

when i click on a link is it going to make me wait 2 minutes while some guy checks my internet stuff and investigates me?
no
i really dont give a stuff if some dude is looking at me browsing some block game forum, or on a higher note, i really dont care if they look at anything i do, im not doing anything illegal

a better brown townogy is you have a switch that you flip 50 times a day and there's a 1/200,000,000 chance  every flip you'll fax the government a pictures of your butt.

itt: neckbeards pirating anime and movies and don't want to get caught

This guy had the right idea. It's not necessarily that anyone is afraid of being 'caught' doing things, it's simply the fact that we're sacrificing personal liberties (privacy) to gain a (false sense of) security.

Chances are no human will ever lay eyes on 90%+ of all the data they collect.

Computers sort through it all for the most suspicious or criminal things, and only then does a human look at it to verify if it needs further investigating.

instead of replacing the government with average joes why don't we just put in a group of average joes that law-passers are required to get an opinion from and publish publicly before passing a bill
Or we could try voting for decent people like Rand Paul instead of electing idiots like George Bush, Obama, Annoying Orange, etc

I agree "ain't none of em in office worth a stuff anyway" but out of them all, there should be an obvious choice.
Someone who stands up for freedom and someone sensible. Someone who talks about real issues with our country instead of making up bullstuff to bicker about (STAR BUCKS CUP) to get us to vote for them. Someone who actually quotes the constitution and the bill of rights , THE FOUNDATION OF OUR COUNTRY'S LAW AND RIGHTS

As the saying goes though: Power Corrupts. It doesn't matter who is in office, they will probably forget something up or end up pissing off the people somehow. It's really a never ending cycle of corruption it seems

Or we could try voting for decent people like Rand Paul instead of electing idiots like George Bush, Obama, Annoying Orange, etc
so what you're saying is, you're a liberal and not a conservative?

so what you're saying is, you're a liberal and not a conservative?

there's a happy middle you know

i mean not far as parties go, but an individual doesn't have to strictly align to one thing or another

actually i can't really make a decent response because what you're saying is kind of vague anyway
