Author Topic: PSA: You can improve Blockland sound by updating OpenAL32.dll  (Read 13204 times)

And this does not have any drawbacks at all?
I mean, if Badspot didn't update it 10 years ago, maybe there is a reason.

It being obvious for you doesn't make it obvious for everyone else
I could've sworn I told you too ya silly

this may be a thing, there's no telling what this might do to your game when you update it.
im not updating it because i slightly enjoy that when you use the /alarm it forgets you up big time.

I think this makes it a little bit harder to hear just how close or far a sound is, but i haven't noticed anything else

It only happens to the client so I guess you like to hear the ear rape while everyone else is updated

yay

so yeah I'd say 2015 was a pretty good year for blockland

this is probably related to this, but my sounds are changing.
people connecting is now the brick turn sound, alarm changed to wrench
possibly a side effect of installing this lol, hasnt happened before

I've actually noticed this too after playing on a server for a while and then hosting my own

Will require some looking into

I'm guessing the sounds switch if the server use the new openal? I don't have these issues yet

This should be included in an update.

So, when you select OpenAL in the audio driver selection and hit done, it appears to sort of randomize some of the sound files? Every time I do that, it associates different sounds with different actions.

This is a deal breaker for me.

Maybe it has something to do with the audio cache.
