From what I hear Metro 2033 requires actual skill to play and is nothing like CoD.
it really doesnt require that much skill to play. the only areas that are noticeably difficult are the ones where enemies have wallhacks.
source: i've played through metro 2033 and last light + dlc on the hardest difficulties

lol the original sucks yo, get the redux

they sorta do
ranger difficulties and normal difficulties
ranger is basically survival mode

the best choice here is to be really persistent and speedy and go for alternative routes

the normal difficulties are survival mode, ranger is basically survival-er mode

also there are no alternative routes, from what i've managed to scout. the only way through is the bridge.

so then all the areas?

i beat the original M2033 on Ranger hardcore
used a trainer though because im a cheating friend
still though, I can imagine it without the trainer
either way the game is still pretty cool

i actually attempted to be a cheating friend but there doesn't seem to be any trainer that actually works
cheat engine doesn't seem to work that well either

so i'm forced to suck it up and just Do It

at least i found that neat shotgun-exchange money trick in armory. not really a cheat, just a nice opportunity.

edit: let's try that again, maybe my eyes are less tired.

- try 1: got the goggles, almost killed everyone, then some guy up on a platform that i didn't see laid down machinegun fire and killed me
- try 2: shot the guy with the goggles, but apparently his corpse fell off the platform. i just jumped off to restart.

i'll let you know how it goes

edit 2:
-try 3: dart didn't hit the goggle dude QUITE right, he got alerted and and i got shot

edit 3:
-try 4: he fell off again. seems to happen if i try to shoot him on his first patrol to that spot, maybe if i only shoot him on the second pass?

edit 4:
-try 5: he didn't die in 1 shot again, but unlike last time, he remained completely silent through my next shots, so he didn't alert anyone. still missed a shot later. it's really hard to aim down a scope in NV mode, because the glare off of the lens (why is that even there anyway? i'm in darkness. aiming at darkness.) is really bright and hard to see past w/ the goggles on

edit 5:
-try 6: i managed to raise the alert again, but decided to go full spartan and just try to kill everyone. almost succeeded, save for two starfishs with mounted machineguns in the far background, which kept shooting me through the train cars and which i couldn't hit.

edit 6:
-try 7: raised alarm, died

edit 7:
-try 8: raised alarm, died
-try 9: raised alarm, walked into one of the gaps on the platform, fell, died
-try 10: went full spartan, ran out of ammo, died

edit 8:
-try 11: raised alarm, died
-try 12: fell off of platform, died
-try 13: raised alarm, died
-try 14: didn't raise alarm, still died

forget this for now

so then all the areas?

Only way is the bridge?

Bwahaha!

Alright, from where you spawn on the level (Russian Train car), you head down a level, over to the national socialists, then go as far along the underside of the bridge as you can, then in all of that forgetery, is actually a Pathway that allows you to avoid everyone.

current save is at a checkpoint next to a lamp towards the left, on the lower level. i'll... keep you updated if i'm actually this handicapped and haven't found the way through myself

edit: grabbed the goggles again (so i could actually see stuff), then thoroughly explored every bit of the lower level
didnt manage to find any way to "head over to the national socialists" or anything. what are you talking about?

edit2: so the way to go was literally /right behind/ the checkpoint i was at
i can't believe i missed that i'm sorry i'm handicapped

now to get past that tunnel filled with national socialists

edit3: ok this part is way easier. it just involves shooting out every single light (the national socialists dont notice anyway) and sneaki breeki

edit4: >manage to sneaki breeki past every national socialist >caught by cutscene
the game does not respect my stealth skills

oh yeah you might have a bug popping up soon where the world disappears, just look up a video its an easy fix

the world didnt disappear, but i got to that part where the cart crashes in an abandoned tunnel and...

how do i advance? forwards has loot but is ultimately blocked by a cave in, backwards is blocked by invisible wall

edit: why do i keep forgetting the compass exists

some people call these demons
i call them beetches

fighting a librarian:
pros: no moral issues when killing one
cons: you can't actually kill one

pull out your knife and stare them down
no sudden movements
if they start approaching slowly back away

i managed to survive them by sneaking around first then running around if I get caught.i dont remember about the original but in redux there were some areas where they couldn't fit through, like the bathroom

yeah that was my method too. look at them. if they approach, bunnyhop backwards like the true counter strike master i am (like all russians). if they attack. forget looking at them just Go Fast

edit: ok now how the forget do i do this

i have like a handful of kalash 2012 rounds and almost no other ammo. how do i deal with the amoebae.

edit: i found a hidden ammo cache nearby, but the mission is still difficult af. will get past eventually.

edit: got

edit: what do you mean there's MORE of them?!?!

\
edit edit ed:

finished the game
got the bad ending woo

although given my interactions with homo novis i wouldn't say the good ending is plausible anyway
