there's an air conditioning club at my college
post a picture of their electricity bill.

it's mostly a problem when it becomes some weird prejudice or scapegoat. like if "sjw" is just used as a dismissive label that's not really a valid argument. there's nothing wrong with debating ideas, but just dismissing something as sjw nonsense doesn't really say or do anything

Pretty much this. The people on the Internet that I label as a "SJW" (and I don't actually throw that term around often) are those who constantly nitpick about political correctness and defend every controversial event that is ever mentioned simply because it's either not applied in law or social norms or there is a way to escape the law/social norms on a technicality.

bet it's full of air-heads

:)

It's actually an anger management class where visitors can blow off steam (two puns in one)

okay guys i'm meeting with the principal again tomorrow. any suggestions for points to bring up or arguments to make

i'm basically gonna stress that if me passing a paper to another student who requests one is a distraction then literally anything is
also I'm gonna accuse the school of looking for excuses to hide rash teacher action, after the flier was returned. because they originally wanted to get me on the 'no-passing-out-flyers' policy but now they are stressing the 'its-a-distraction' policy.
i'm gonna say that it's a ridiculous overreaction to call students to the office on 4 different occasions over a 20 second long distraction of another student

also, i'm pissed with my math teacher, and the situation as a whole. so i'm gonna try and hatch some plans:

1. maybe pass students sheets of printer paper just for use with their work, inciting his rage as he thinks it is another flier
2. ask other students to pass around sheets of paper to prove he is just going after fliers
3. just ask him about it and watch him try to explain his actions

oh yeah, i'm also attending spartans for christ. when they ask why i am there i'm gonna display the bucketload of invite cards that say 'YOU'RE INVITED' and say that they seemed to really want me to attend. i'm gonna half try to chill them out, showing that it's not an attack against them, but also try to keep the word alive that this club exists and is doing everything it can to form.

it's about the same as someone asking for a piece of paper. in fact, that's literally what it is, except it's not going to be written on.

the problem is clearly that it was a flyer for the club and not that it was a distraction. they're jumping around the issue and wasting time

people will either love you an uncomfortably large amount or hate you unconditionally

this is the true test of their strength

Definitely argue against the distratction thing.
You weren't distracting the girl, she was distracting you. She approached you and asked for a flier. You didn't approach her to give her one.

Not that either of you should be in trouble for something as harmless as that, but you certainly shouldn't be.
After all, the end result here is that instead of being distracted for say 2 minutes, the school has forced you to miss out on an entire hours lesson.

Use this

1. maybe pass students sheets of printer paper just for use with their work, inciting his rage as he thinks it is another flier

Lay your phone on your desk with video or voice memo running and do this. Not only do we want to hear everything going down, I'm sure you could use it against the teacher with the principal.

I think that's against the law or something, recording audio/video without their permission. If it not, then ye.

what a great conversation piece

you're using a thread by lord tony as an example? lol

most of the responses to trolling were people being opposed to the thread in some fashion or pointing out the blatant stuffposting
most of the strawman stuff was coming from the good lord himself

he starts things, for the sake of grabbing attention and continuing unsavory topics. that's his thing. you're much more subtle when you do it, however :^)

it depends on the state
but even where it is illegal that's usually just used to keep such a recording from being used in court
I'd be more worried about the school's rules (personally giving the principal proof that you broke the school's rules would be a bad idea)

Maybe go through the school handbook and look for that. Still might be bad though. But if it is, no one says they have to find out.

it's against the rules just to have your phone out in class. its def. against the rules to film other students or staff.

so i need new plans. suggestions in general. arguments to make. at this point i really want to press the tumblr-y 'discrimination' argument.

Tumblr-y or not, that's exactly what it is.

They can't tell you not to have a group called Students for Satan or Spartans for Santa or whatever.

Tell them that your meetings, should you actually finalize your organization, are going to take place before operating hours of the school. They can take place on school grounds so long as not during school hours. Otherwise there is literally nothing stopping you from holding whatever kind of religious meeting of whatever kind else they are in direct violation of the first amendment and you can actually call the ACLU on their asses and sue.

This is that serious.

We're actually hoping to get a meeting room set up during lunch on Thursdays, one day after Spartans for Christ in the same room. It's just a matter of insisting upon equal treatment.

They've asked us to change the name. I'm going to point out that this group exists as a counterpart to Spartans for Christ, for those who don't identify with the church. And what's the opposite of Christ? Satan. By changing our name to anything else we would corrupt the group in itself.
