Avalonian scientist Hans Hindenburg develops a crude electromagnet.  News of this reaches nobody because he's a nobody right now, but he does it and continues to work on his design and its applications.

Avalonian investors, receiving word that railroads are the next big thing in other countries, scramble to gather capital to invest in the construction of these railroads.  Before any progress is made however, the Avalonian government stipulates certain standards for the quality of materials used, as well as how wide any rail-path is, and other things, to be to ensure uniformity and safety.

Old Norse institutional buildings are constructed in Sonodine.
Citizens are recruited for the Sonodine regiment. A combat instructor from Romek is requested.

The Sunyong explorer ship departs from the port of Bresden and makes its way down river.  It comes across the port city of Khulda, where it weighs anchor.  Immediately, the language barrier is struck.  The ship's crew opt to attempt to use gestures to communicate.

Electricity was not in common use in this time. It was known about, but it would take another few decades for it to be used practically, outside of pure science.

In other news, I'm generating some random resource maps that will be kept secret to the moderators, with mine discoveries being doled out over time.
