Alright then, finally an update as I am feeling quite a bit better, although not fully recovered.
there's no reason to micro this from a historical standpoint
Unless there's no absolute reason for micromanagement, it can be treated as flavor text. That being said, no user is obligated to micromanage, but is free to do so if they please.
gruzia-nec does stuff domestically to support themselves more or something i guess??
Legume farms built along the Rhon River. Dates, bananas, and cotton farms built along the Lehr River. Minor refining industries spring up along the river. Due to low river flow capacity, the metal refineries are not major producers. All of these industries are for domestic use, and help to support the local population along the rivers.
Ruthenia begins looking Westward for colonization.
While mining for metals to produce weapons for Mipoli with, miners in the rocky hills south of Aleshty stumble upon a decent deposit of gold, causing a slight boost in Ruthenia's treasury.
President Dubicki proposes the small treasury boost go towards science and research related to Geology and Mining, seeing great potential in the rough mountains that once were considered almost useless.
Ruthenia, in surveying the land to the west, finds that it is pretty much desert with no fertile land and minimum mineral resources, just like the homeland. It is land nonetheless.
The gold rush to the hills booms and then disappears quickly as it just seems to have been a lucky find. Miners are still hopeful, but have not found anything worth noting for three years.
The funding is approved, as it was proposed at the time of the gold rush, however, the parliament is reevaluating this decision after the gold ran out. The program has yielded little fruit, with the exception of finding large construction grade stone deposits, some of which is of decorative grade.
For every year that this cheque remains unclaimed, it is increased by 50,000 Rommarks. A condition is added to the handout, though: the claimant must make their patents public within New Romekate. This means that anyone is free to use the technology within the patents, but, of course, attempting to patent something using the already-patented tech within it is still illegal.
As farms and rails near completion, government-run industry starts to shift its focus to telegraph wire and digging cbrown towns in Sonodine and east Sunyong in order to enable further agricultural expansion.
A significant number of competitors for the patent drop out, as the chance of any real long-term profit declines. However, three proposals pass through the review board.
1. A primitive electric automobile is designed and built using DC charge. It shows promise as transportation for individuals who can afford an automobile.
2. An inventor has created a rather large lighter than air machine capable of carrying up to 12 passengers. Its relative aerodynamic design shows promise with the absence of winds in some areas of New Romekate.
3. An engineer has created a powerful train engine that is suited to climb rails in the desert hills. It shows promise to carry relatively large hauls over rough terrain.
Seris wants to expand the ARO's mission to include medical research as well as public health and safety.
Arcon declines this offer.

New Romekate asks that it may purchase the river-farms owned by the Arconian exclave.
The Arconian parliament (some members of which are landowners there) refuses. Their statement reads, "It is to our best interests to keep this land for now. The people live the Arconian way, and have done so for years. The land is well-developed, and trade relations firmly-established. We cannot give it up at this time."
In Arcon,
Sewers are given a solid overhaul. Farmers begin to use fertilizer as was discovered in Avalonia. Others begin to make their own fertilizer, some making their own fertilizer companies.
With the telegraph network in Arcon being fairly complete at this time, the government hands the business of constructing them to private institutions. The government then shifts its focus to constructing the Sonodite network.
Although this is terribly late, Edward Guiles dies. A great funeral is held, and a momument is set up in Capitol Square in Auregge, just across the street from the Bureau of Labor. Its dedication packs the green.
Merchant ships crossing through the West Navaidan Sea begin to be frequently attacked and looted by pirates. Arcon calls upon Scotia, Baytiyyad and Anglond to work with Arcon to eliminate the growing pirate threat. Arcon sends a small but powerful naval force to Mt. Aegia to await a response, and to be prepared to fight.
The Serisian economy enters a steady decline as a plague sweeps the land, killing off around 70,000 in one year and nearly 7 out of 9 are struggling to find the means to live, many of which blame an excessive tax burden. Labor unions demand higher wages or a decrease in taxes.
The Avalonian economy, with the shift in currencies, economic problems in Seris and heightened importance on similar programs, experiences a depression. Economists think it is not too severe, and that moderate measures should be taken to protect against foreign trade market problems. Staple crops moderately increase in price. Labor unions cry for increases in wages. Although rioting as a result is uncommon, robberies of bakeries becomes more common. Experts predict that the depression will be over in 6-10 years, given the government takes responsible actions.
The economic problems spread to Arcon, where it experiences a moderate depression. The government issues bonds to wealthy coffee, tea and cotton farmers. A tax break is given to those who are working well and are still struggling. Sonodite refugees have been established after they have been given public work to perform. Although the program has died down, Arcon calls again for these people and others to work on sewage systems, railways, etc. Some of the money gained through the bonds is contracted to the laborers.
Arcon, although it may be struggling at this time, calls for IOS to conduct research on Mt. Tonnerre.
Saccren's cotton trade has entirely been taken over by a company called the East Frisian Cotton Company. The company buys out the date, coffee, tea, and smithing industries. Saccrenians are becoming increasingly worried about the frighteningly fast growing conglomerate as its financial power is enough to buy out the Saccrenian National Bank and all the mines in the nation.
