L'zaar Ishibu writes in his journal after receiving news of the chain of disasters:

"These couple of days will go down in history as one of the most tragic events in history, many must flee their home(s) to escape the chaos the land has to offer. May God be with those whose relatives have died in the chaos and despair.

aid is sent to the northern regions of Valbrandsvåg aswell as to Wienza

Avalonia accepts the Caliphate's gracious aid, and works to rebuild, firstly in Avalonia itself, and then to fellow NCO members, starting with its most prominent existing responsibilities: the JAZ and Arcon, and then assigning what aid can be given to the Rest of the NCO.  Cloth dust masks are distributed to help manage any ash related troubles, and locals show a good spirit in working in groups to move rubble and the like.

Former Chancellor Vjornsberg passes away at the ripe old age of 73.  According to his widow and a number of his closest friends, including the current Chancellor, Kurt Walter, whom he gathered to his deathbed, his last words urged Avalonians to continue to rise to the challenges presented by an unfriendly world, and to bring Avalonia, and its friends, to a better place through the horror of the volcano (and knowing that death knocks at the door, he reminds his listeners that he is but one man, and these victims should not be overlooked), and through the trials of the economic downturn.  This was followed by a few words on his pride to call the Avalonian people his brothers and sisters.  Vjornsberg died as a result of his weakening heart, surrounded by loved ones, honored among men.

Nazgar's streets are filled with those mourning Vjornsberg's passing during his state funeral.  Regardless of political leanings or any other differences, almost all Avalonians revered him greatly, and respected his commitment to the Avalonian people and his generosity toward those willing to earn it.  Some of his notes for his autobiography are formed into a brief leaflet which is widely distributed in Avalonia, noting that which made him great, and his widow is currently working to organize his notes into a full autobiography to be published posthumously.  His will leaves a reasonable annuity to his widow, and much of what remains is directed toward close personal friends and charitable causes, including his own.

Despite his wish not to be put on any currency, the ANA moves to compromise this, and put him on the coin of smallest value and erect a statue of him outside the ANA building.  Chancellor Walter voted against the motion because of Vjornsberg's wish, had this to say: "If he hadn't made his position clear, I would have supported his face on every bill and coin, and a statue of gold.   I'm sure that my friend would smile that we feel the need to honor him so at all, though many have received more for less.  Truly he was a great man, and what we have done is truly the least we can do to honor him - just the way he'd want it."

Despite all the chaos, Prince Jaema leaves the responsibility of the nation to his eldest son, Önecht IV, age 33, and the parliamentary chairman, and travels to Avalonia to personally be among the mourners.  In a few brief words, he speaks very favorably of the Avalonian people, specifically noting their unmatched fervor, their strong determination, and their unparalleled sense of kinship.  Önecht concludes by posthumously granting the late chancellor the rare title granted to a select few (only 3 are alive) of "Coeur d'Or", meaning "Heart of Gold" and more generally, "Honorable."

Arcon thanks those who have sent their support.  Cloth masks are being made for livestock, which have taken a hit as of late.

The Serisian government starts an exploratory research and development contest for self-powered off-rail transportation using an engine of the designer's choice. The machine must be able to complete a trip through the city of Estallum on a preplanned route.

The reward is a choice between an indefinite lowered tax rate or a lump sum payment for individuals (enough to pay for 10 years of expenses for an average citizen), and a production contract for a winning company/team. Parallel to this, the Serisian government has another contest for an alternative engine to steam power on the railroads and in the water. The reward is the same for the second contest as well.

Espovon states it's uninterested in territory below it and that it is free to claim without complaint.

Espovon works on creating better Locomotives/trains along with creating a rail network within the country, which will also include telegraph lines.
