The only thing you can do is be careful how you pick your friends. Don't accept random steam invites and only accept the ones you know. (Seems obvious but some people don't get the hint yet, not saying the OP doesn't, it's just in general)

That would fall on OP probably. Police won't care if some kid calls them to say that someone on a forum got swatted. He'd have to handle it, and I really hope he is. Hopefully his parents will be able to help him more than we can.
