Or learn how to play against/alongside that hero so that when everyone eventually gets over the hype, you'll know what and what not to do.
the problem is that it doesn't take very many matches to figure out how he works as an opponent and an ally, but only being able to actually play him yourself one round out of every handful doesn't do any favors for practice
I played for quite awhile earlier and got to pick him 3 times: the first time the enemy team got rolled so hard I didn't even get to do anything, the second was pretty normal but it was my first real match against actual players so I did really poorly, and the third the enemy team was built almost specifically to counter doomfist (which I can't blame them for, it's the smart option right now) and walked all over me any time I even THOUGHT about attacking someone
of course I don't think there's any actual way to do anything about it, like you said it's just a waiting game for the hype to die down, but I'm really excited for this hero so I'm feeling impatient
