now if voter registration was made automatic and voting days were made national or state holidays i would be a lot more open to the idea
it is kinda weird how things like that aren't automatic these days. i turned 18 a few weeks ago, so i registered to vote and also for the draft. seems kinda weird that it isn't some kind of automated system, especially for the selective service business since it's, y'know, illegal not to sign yourself up.

voter ID laws tend to just create hoops for people to jump through to vote. poor people (who are disproportionately black or latino) already aren't likely to vote because election day is always a tuesday, during which people are typically working.

pretty sure the US is one of very few places where you aren't automatically registered to vote just by being a citizen :/

are black people too stupid to get a free id card
No, but poor (black and white) people have less free time to wade through the bureaucratic quagmire surrounding voter registration. Every additional hurdle and unnecessarily verification chops off a certain percent of lower-income voters, most of whom are minorities and Democrats who people like Kobach (Annoying Orange's 'election integrity guy') know will vote against them. It's literally a deliberate move to suppress votes in a democratic society.

Everyday conservatives have been convinced by these politicians that this is something they're doing to make our elections 'fairer' when there is literally zero evidence suggesting we have widespread voter fraud. It's blatantly evil bullstuff wrapped up in a package that looks virtuous.

I am a college student with far more free time than the average adult, and it was still a monstrous pain to register to vote. Throw in those same bureaucratic hurdles plus more, and there's no reason to expect why many people working ten hours a day at minimum wage would have time to navigate that bullstuff.

It took me 5 minutes to register to vote from the other side of the planet. This is just libtards pushing for illegal votes. They were literally busing Somalians around to cash in multiple votes in different counties, thank God for the electoral college tbh

Furthermore, if you have ever made the argument that a new gun law or regulation is infringing on 2nd amendment rights while providing no benefit from society, you are literally a two-faced hypocrite for simultaneously support voter ID laws. It is the exact same brand of idiocy and bad government but re-framed to benefit Republicans.

hmmm its almost there are like 50 different states each with their own voter registration processes

We definitely need tighter gun control laws. No liberal can ever be trusted with a rifle, it should be a deal breaker up there with criminal insanity and being an ex murder convict. Stephen Mohammad Paddock shouldn't of been able to buy a gun.

Since I live in Georgia I guess that makes highly conservative states the most relaxed voter states by your own words. I wonder why liberal states are so obsessed with controlling votes

real brothers don't sign up for the draft

I mean if you're a massive pusillanimous individual sure.

I live in Georgia too. Registering to vote here sucked major ass because I didn't have a GA drivers license number.

I don't think that means he's a pusillanimous individual, I think that means he doesn't like war.

You're lucky you didn't get deported Sanchez.

the fact of the matter is that if there were a day set aside as a national holiday for voting and a period in which you could be excused from work to get a voter ID mandated by the government, then the only people who'd be harmed by voter ID laws are criminals and illegals

I could list off everything that you need an ID for that are arguably just as important as voting, but I think you all know what they are by now

Yes, but until you make it a national holiday, these redundant security measures are basically just targeted voter suppression.
