My great grandfather was actually present at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. I never met him but my mom told me stories. He was within a ship when it was struck by a projectile, but he was able to go topside before it sunk. Apparently he saw a lot of his friends die in oil fires. Kind of grim!!
