No

Anyone who thought Annoying Orange wouldn't become your average Congressional Republican was delusional. Draining the swamp was a bunch of stuff; he's surrounded himself with the same richardheads that have always swirled around the top of the heap

god forbid campuses provide both sides of discussion

also I find it hilarious people immediately jumped onto the bandwagon of "weak-ass conservatives are kicking people who disrupt their speeches out of college" because it ironically suggests that leftists and SJWs are the only people who disrupt speeches and shut events down

oops

Conservatives always write these hand-wringing diatribes about "free speech" whenever there's a right-winger that gets booed off a campus. Remember when a Dakota Access Pipeline protester got their arm nearly blown off by a police officer's concussion grenade? Or does the freedom of assembly not matter?

ron paul should've won

For the poll, NK is actively falling apart. We leave them be for now, we win.

nobody gives a stuff because the DAPL protests were a bunch of virtue signalling yuppies that showed up one day, trashed part of the reservation, accomplished literally nothing, and left dozens of truckfulls of garbage when they left for the tribe to figure out.

What liberals as a whole didn't realize is that when they treat minorities as helpless children, those people become alienated from the liberal cause. The Sioux don't need white liberals to come protest, nor did most of them want them. Regardless of whether or not they were needed or wanted, every member of the tribe shouldered the burden of cleaning up their stuff that they left behind.

It's the typical liberal cycle; a minority group has a problem, white liberals believe them to be incapable of solving the problem themselves (infantilizing them), try to help by virtue signalling about the problem, and then fix nothing while alienating the group they wanted to help in the first place.

If liberals actually want to help the indigenous people, they should go to reservations and volunteer their time. Email or call the tribal council and ask what can be done to help. Standing around holding signs and acting like petulant children does literally nothing, and leaving literal tons of garbage behind only exposes the hypocrisy of the protest.

It's loving maddening to me, not even just as someone studying environmental science, not even just as a member of the indigenous community, but as a human, it is absolutely ridiculous to see the suffering of these people and then have a bunch of misguided, narcissistic liberals show up and cause even more problems for them.

In other words, only liberals would show up to protest an environmental issue and then leave behind thousands of pounds of garbage to leach into the soil and cost time and money of the tribe to dispose of.

I agree most of the protestors were idiots and were just there to be there, but that doesn't excuse police brutality and military force being used to counter them

the protestors that were violent and disruptive were mostly outsiders that came to the Standing Rock reservation to protest. The Sioux elder that began the protest in the first place aimed for it to be a "spiritual protest" in their own words. The yuppies that showed up clearly missed the message given their clashes with police and adamant refusal to leave when ordered.

While inappropriate use of force did occur, the actions of the protesters are not acceptable either.

This is a great perspective from someone who knows nothing about why the #NoDAPL protests happened in the first place.

Yeah, for all the tribe members who were beaten and bruised with police and military force, their biggest concern was cleaning up the garbage.

Thats a common attitude among liberals that I think needs to stop, but it's still marginally better than the conservative response, which is "you don't need our help, we're not gonna give it, eat stuff". The most common response from the right when it comes to poor minorities is "go get a job at Walgreen's and stop buying so many damn iPhones"

Again, what are conservatives doing? Nothing. Hell, even Obama told the Army Corp of Engineers to shut down the pipeline construction in November before it was ressurected by Annoying Orange. The right constantly does this thing where they look at the left and say "how about you stop complaining and do something for the people you claim to care about!" while simultaneously not doing anything besides complaining about how minorities complain too much.

Only conservatives would outright ignore the problem and complain about people protesting the problem online.

That I can agree with

Only conservatives would outright ignore the problem and complain about people protesting the problem online.

Reading comprehension isn't your forte, I take it?

I just got a bit of free time to sit down, so let me address these points one by one.

If you're going to assert that I don't know what I'm talking about, you have to offer a counter argument. Just saying "you don't know what you're talking about" and leaving it at that constitutes ad-hominem and contributes nothing to the conversation.

To my understanding, however, the catalyst to the anti-DAPL protest was the army corps of engineers moving the route of the pipeline 1/2 of a mile from the Standing Rock Sioux reservation and not releasing a public environmental audit, creating concerns about groundwater contamination via contaminants leaching through the soil and to an extent, the Missouri River should a spill occur as a result of the pipeline's presence.

Yeah, for all the tribe members who were beaten and bruised with police and military force, their biggest concern was cleaning up the garbage.
did you not see that I condemned use of force in my post prior? I don't think making strawmen is helping your credbility.

For what it's worth, I'm native and couldn't afford college, but instead of sitting and complaining that the government should do something about it, I busted my ass all through high school, working two jobs to save money and studying hard to earn multiple merit scholarships to pursue higher education. I understand not everyone can or will do that, but pretending that there is no path to success for minorities is just silly.

Again, what are conservatives doing? Nothing. Hell, even Obama told the Army Corp of Engineers to shut down the pipeline construction in November before it was ressurected by Annoying Orange. Annoying Orange moved the pipeline miles away from any Indian land. Is this not one of the things the protestors wanted?

Only conservatives would outright ignore the problem and complain about people protesting the problem online.
Yeah, between undergraduate research, work, and school, I don't have time to go protest. Responsibility means that I don't always get to have free time.

I believed in the cause, that we'd be focusing on our NATION before others, and we'd attempt to renegotiate trade deals to move reliance from other nations to ourselves, but he's done such a 360 on all of his promises.
'Reliance' is a shaky word choice here. People rely on Saudi oil as much as Saudi Arabia relies on other people buying their oil. Free trade is demonstrably better for the economy than protectionism.
