mines and """""protestors""""" are two completely different threats

Yes, that's his point

so why would you want to use the exact same vehicle to protect yourself against them? armored military vehicles are totally unnecessary; armored police cruisers or vans should be enough.
Quote
Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP; /ˈɛmræp/ EM-rap) is a term for United States military vehicles produced as part of the MRAP program that are designed specifically to withstand improvised explosive device (IED) attacks and ambushes.
I'm going to highlight a few points here from the first sentence of the wikipedia definition.

Quote
improvised explosive device (IED)
Commonly used by insurgency and irregular forces (see: """"protestors"""") and serve the same purpose and are functionally identical to mines
Quote
ambushes
see: """"protestors""""

What I'm trying to say is that MRAP's a vehicle developed for coin operations in the middle east, can serve a similar purpose here in the states because it was designed for an environment where lots of bystanders are present and the combatants can blend in and threats arent exactly clear, something you see at a lot of these "protests".
Another point to add is that police departments want armored vehicles regardless. Would you rather have them spend money on something like a lenco bear which i admit would serve the same purpose as a DoD built MRAP, but it costs money to the local department, and have the DoD "waste" the money because they didn't find a use for the surplus MRAPs?

having riot police use actual military vehicles kinda legitimizes the misconception of some libtards that this is a civil war (or that it should be)

i'd rather have the government spend money on things that are useful, not a million dollar vehicle meant to withstand mine blasts and assault weapons, both of which are almost never in play on us soil

frankie i feel like you took a joke people made and completely blew it out of proportion to the point where everyone here(me included) is completely dumbfounded

I think it depends on the situation. Like, down south where lots of people are armed, it might be smart to let riot police have military grade armored vehicles and body armor. THEN AGAIN, the whole point of the first amendment is to counter the establishment of a police state, and letting police slowly gain an edge over citizens is bound to push that, so I don't know. At the end of the day, like I said, it's just a bad idea.

body armor seems like a necessity. it's simply a life-preserver, not much of an edge over other peopl

We should just use drones to bomb the filthy protesters. God bless America

when texas is asking for prayers during a hurricane but then you remember that it's texas

everything's bigger in texas

yeah as long as it's just protection i don't see a problem

everything's bigger in texas
lol yeah like my dick and balls lol hehe

i'd like to know how many police operations actually involve disbanding incredibly violent war-grade protests. i'd imagine that makes up an incredibly tiny portion of operations so i'm not sure why military police are necessary when the national guard could just be called in instead if it's really that kind of problem

ya. the police force does not need military equipment. using military equipment should be an extreme case, not "just a precaution"

They probably could've used in Charlottesville tbh

imo that would only escalate things
