Author Topic: blockland is the best game ever  (Read 3946 times)

to be honest this is probably the game I've played the most

The things you could do in this game are vast. I'm really thankful for this game and the things its down for me over the last 5 years. Thank you badspot for making such an awesome game.

i have 443 hours on the steam version alone, probably at least twice that before steam

it's probably my most played game (at least second most, i might've played roblox more. (it was FREE and i was 6))

I'm really sad that everyone I ask knows about Minecraft and what it is, but no one I've ever met knew what Blockland is. Most people I know play Minecraft, and haven't even heard of Blockland, even though Blockland is infinitely better.
Blockland isn't infinitely better.
Otherwise there would be no Blocklander that stated playing Minecraft, which is not the case.

Minecrafts survival mode is very solid. Especially if you add a bunch of modpacks to it.
This is something Blockland doesn't have, which some players will not like.

But for those Minecrafters who play a lot of minigames like spleef and zombie survival, they would love Blockland if they came into contact with it.
And those builders and redstoners would also have the time of their life with Blockland.

New players have quite a different experience here, it takes 5+ minutes to download thousands of files from servers. This is the first thing they see after purchasing the game.
I'm pretty sure it could be made like 10-20 times faster.
Couldn't peer to peer be used to send files? Everyone on the server would send you the files at the same time.
So the more the server is populated, the faster the downloading will be.

I have no idea how long I've played. Since '09, I've had blockland on 3 computers, 4 if you count setting up my little brother. Played a couple of 24-hour and 36-hour BL campaigns on City RPGs, fort wars, etc. I think the most fun I had was when I was made an admin for that zombies/vs/survivors game mode from like a year or two back.

The game was getting a little dull last time I played. Unfortunately a lot of the really talented devs and servers have left us. I'll still probably end up reinstalling BL when I save up for a real computer (instead of my Mac Pro)

I think Blockland needs more MINIgames, rather than a couple of super sophisticated servers. I have a feeling if I host a fort wars, city RPG (or even just a city free build) that I'll probably have to deal with more spam and trolls than I would 5 years ago. Waaay easier to manage a DM or TDM server.

Couldn't peer to peer be used to send files? Everyone on the server would send you the files at the same time.
So the more the server is populated, the faster the downloading will be.

The cdn is as fast as it gets, blockland just doesn't request the files quickly enough. If you download a huge file from it it'll use all your bandwidth, but we're trying to download like 3000 individual 1kb files.

Well, I mean, it's not the BEST GAME EVER
but, whatever...

Could use some more explosives...

also this

These days blockland works more as a tool, I use it to make buildings cause other programs are too difficult to use.

plus legos are expensive

Also, back in my days, blockland servers were mainly just small ""businesses"". But today it's mostly just ""megacorp"" servers like tezunis.

I must agree with Unicode's observation of using Blockland as a tool.  I plan on creating a sort of automated empire - I've listed most of the buildings that would have to be made in a .txt file, which include steel mills, concrete production, computing facillities, habitation towers, war factories etc etc.  I will move on to Word and add images for each building so that I have a quick reference beside me when building.

I personally would love to see prefabricated buildings placed on a grid with their types and densities arranged via gui parameters, and each building containing it's own coded logic system that contributed to a sort of internal framework (net worth materials, oil, coal, bricks, computing power, military power etc) In fact, I might open up a topic on that soon, like the one I opened on armour system mechanics, where Lugnut and Greek2Me had participated in discussing.  Here is the link to the topic if you're interested:  http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=278338.msg8306178#msg8306178

I play blockland as a game as well, though.  I just seem to find that it is capable of fleshing out a broad range of creative interests when used correctly.

4 years  later and I'm still  playing this game.  this game is the definition of a  hidden gem.  I may not be playing it that much but when I find the time. its quite the stress reliever.  The maps, the mods, this very funny community. Thanks Badspot for making my young adult years feel with joy. ^^
