Author Topic: RTB should be default. (Here come the pages)  (Read 3431 times)

Agreed, the instant install mod manager was nice but its litteraly just drag and drop now, so its not a big deal anymore.
It was drag and drop then too.

V9 and up is drag and drop.

The only thing that I like about the add-on stuff is because it's easier to search for stuff than what we have now.

Why is this 3 pages, RTB is dead, and Badspot can't just 'make it default'.
Yeah, the Blockland add-on part of it still exists, but it's not gonna do anyone any good.

And no, none of these 'fixed/modified RTBs' should take it's place.

Are you trying to say that the RTB server prefs wasn't something that should have been default from the start?

Because that is loving handicapped, nobody should have to restart a server to turn off e-tard or change the title even by a single letter, along with the ease to change add-ons that used its pref system

You can still use the RTB function minus mod manager minus chat.

Fine by me. All I need is the pref system.

RTB should have been default 6 years ago, now it's too late.

The features of RTB should've been default yes. We should've had a pref manager. We should've had an in-game friends list. We should've had an in-game colorset manager. An in-game mod manager would've been neat too.
But before you go and throw "loving handicapped" around, I mean the add-on itself is dead, because that's what's implied when "[Name of Add-on] should be default" is said.

Now, if you want me to elaborate on the "none of these 'fixed/modified RTBs' should take it's place is because, well.
I'm pretty sure BLG is going to be a nice successor, and no one seems to actually be fixing/updating their 'modified RTBs', nor remaking the external platform.
It's been how long and every 'RTB' is still re-running the crap-on check, and causing the long string crash?

or how about badspot adds workshop support
steam has individual chatrooms for games that would basically function as the IRC already

The workshop is absolutely stuff, I'd still like to see Blockland use it though. You can't really do any more damage to this damn game to begin with. Workshop support should happen, and maybe one day it'll actually be usable and useful to the community.

I personally wouldn't use workshop. The add on system is messy and if I get flagged for copyright material for a free mod my account will get temporarily banned

Yes, some random kid goes around reporting people for copyright. They feel like steam will reward them by how many reports they make.

The workshop is the most absolute garabage addon manager I have ever used.

If somebody doesn't like your addon all they need to do is file a DMCA complaint, and they won't even look at it, it will just get taken down, aside from that its the worst system hands down, if a content creator deletes their addon, its removed from your game.

Its also sorted poorly and most of the times will be spammed with "server packs" or other nonsensical garbage, the only game I have seen with decent workshop support is besiege, but even it doesn't get it right.

The only thing I see workshop being useful for would be saves since there is no way to share saves easily, but thats about it, and since Blockland works, if theres a save you really like and want to keep you can do another save in Blockland that way if the save gets a dmca complaint and it gets taken down you still keep it.

from what i recall, blockland doesn't remove files

so that might not actually be able to happen, which is good

Blockland doesn't, but steam can remove files from the game folder, that is where the whole issue relies.

Workshop is better than nothing
And it'd welcome newer steam players to the wonderful world of addons
