Their artillery would only require an hour to obliterate seoul. From what I read they hope that in the event of war that they can destroy as many artillery pieces as they can in a short amount of time.

it's a war on terror and every country involved in it (by sending troops or supplies) is seen as a viable target for terrorists

north korea doesn't get involved in the middle east, so terrorists won't attack it

plus there's nothing to gain by attacking NK, no one would really care

Honestly much of the instability in the Middle East is a direct result of the European powers carving out arbitrary national borders and their and America's support of Israel, further disrupting ethnic and national boundaries. If one place getting glassed over would solve a lot of the conflict in the world then Israel is it.
