I remember when I used to like this game. But now 3 quaters of the weapons aren't used, Because everyone constantly uses the most annoying ones:
Deagle
AWP
M4A1
CV-47

CS doesn't do weapons the way a lot of game do them. Take Battlefield or CoD for example, every gun is more or less as viable as the next one. The nature of CS however with its economy system means that for there be to times when each team is weak mean that certain guns need to be outright better or worse then the others. It's for this reason that the Famas is worse than the M4, that the scout/SG (depending on the game) is worse than the AWP, and a multitude of other balance decisions. Being that the M4, AK, and AWP are the best all-purpose guns in the game, it would also follow that people would take the most time to get good with them. They aren't annoying weapons as much as they are well practiced weapons.

Is there any reason not to use the AUG/SG though? They cost around 200/300 more and you get instant kill headshots with the aug and better accuracy with the SG. Yet I find I like the m4 and ak better but I dont know why

AUG/SG are super effective agaisnt full buys, since they have 90-100% armor entry, ignoring armor almost completelly.

They're just not really in the meta. Since the AK/M4 is so much more commonly used, it makes more sense to just use the weapons you're more experienced with than to use the flashier weapons. That said, I like to run M4A1-S and swap it out for an aug in close range positions. In my experience, the AUG scope is a trap and will never help you unless you're engaging and long range while tap firing.

both scoped ARs are bad at close range, but they kick ass on places like dust II long.

they do at close range. IMO its better than an M4A1 at close range because of its mag size, rate of fire, and 1 hit headshot.

never use the SG at close range though. that gun sucks without its scope

The game also turned into a classic team fortress "Pay To Look Cool"
and The game is filled with people who hate on people like jerks who aren't good at a game.
Who cares if your good at a game about just shooting people? over and over again?
Some people still like it but it's kind of gone to a clusterforget for me.
