hey whats up
I've been brainstorming about advertisements in video games. They've been here forever, for example:
 | | |
NFSU2 | NBA Live 08 | Battlefield 4 |
Now they've became a standard in mobile gaming, and some developers want to push that, and bring it to bigger platforms.
I've been wanting to know what would be
good methods of putting advertisements in video games. Obviously opinions will vary, so I'm happy I have the forum to hear multiple voices.
These examples are from old to new, with the newest being (in my opinion) the worst case. These examples aren't the only way to put advertisement in video games though.
We have putting advertisements in loading screens, optional advertisements a player can watch for a bonus (prominent on mobile), hidden advertisements, homages, ripoffs to avoid copyright but to still let the player know which brand it is supposed to be, and the list goes on.
So I want to know from you guys, and have a discussion about, what method of ad placement would you be OK with in video games if they
had to have them. What method would you prefer to see the most and would make you the least upset.
edit:
This goes for both free and pay games.
