better to save multiple lives than just 1
What makes their lives more important than his?

Personally I'd let the trolley go

it depends on if the distance between the two tracks is wider than the length of the trolley

Lets see, save one innocent life risking the deaths of many, or kill a single man to save many others... Hmmm...

I warn the road worker of what I'm doing and then pull the lever

Of course, that's only if the distance in the gap was too wide for the jump and really high from the ground / water

if every human life is worth an equal amount, then multiple lives are more valuable than a single life
thus a trolley full of people is worth saving over a road worker

BUT
what if the road worker is your gf

Trick question you do neither and go buy a sandwich

have someone get the road worker away from the tracks and then pull the lever
alternatively, put a no trolleys allowed sign on the bridge
that'll stop them

Trick question you do neither and go buy a sandwich
It's impossible to do neither, as one of the options is literally "do nothing".

Going to get a sandwich means you decided not to save the lives of all the people on the train.

I would sacrifice the road worker, then probably go home, get really drunk and cry in the shower.

Can I see the racial makeup of the trolley?

i save the worker cause its guaranteed he will die if i divert the trolley
you didnt say the people in the trolley would necessarily die if they went off the incomplete bridge

you didnt say the people in the trolley would necessarily die if they went off the incomplete bridge

how large far of a drop from the bridge is it
Enough to kill everybody in the trolley.

That's a very optimistic view of trains versus falls you have.
